Come on. Let's not fool ourselves. "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is one of the most anticipated movies of all time. The stakes are high, the expectations are even higher... Yet, we all eagerly await, by the moment, a distant March of 2016.
When that Comic-Con clip got leaked back in July, 2014, I was pretty amazed. Of course, we couldn't see much, but those brief seconds were more than enough. I wanted more. I wanted more of anything that got released about the movie. But, as we all currently are, I am forced to wait.
When the movie wrapped up back some months ago, my next thought was: "Soon..." I remember that around the same time that 'BvS' wrapped up, Marvel's "[Ant-Man](movie:9048)" did as well. It was to my surprise that beginning this year, Marvel released a trailer for the later movie. Now, I was certain that the "Batman v Superman" trailer was finished, but: when was Warner Bros. going it to us? That lead to me to my next big hope: the Super Bowl.
Arguably, one of the most important days for the US. Not only a championship is in play. A lot of eyes watch that final game. As of 2014, the cost of a 30 second commercial was 4 million dollars. Sounds quite expensive...
Of course, 4 million is nothing compared to a big budget movie like 'Batman v Superman'. Of course, Warner Bros. could go to the bank, get the money and buy their slot in the line-up.
But the real thing is: do they reaaaaally need a Super Bowl ad?
Short answer: no, of course they don't need it... At least for now. Here go the reasons.
1. We are talking about the most anticipated movie of all time! The media literally covers ANYTHING this movie is referenced about. I have never seen a bigger coverage of a movie in my entire life or read/seen/heard similar.
2. Well, it is Superman AND Batman in the title of a movie. The two oldest, most popular superheroes of all time, face off in the big screen? People are going to see the movie regardless they heard the movie when it was announced officially or they heard their neighbor talking about it two days before being released.
3. Want it, or not, the movie is going to be released in over a year. Warner Bros. are not in urge to do something like spending 4 million now, when they can spend it next year, with a closer release date.
Sorry to disappoint you folks, but I don't think there is going to be a '[Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice](movie:711870)' trailer in the Super Bowl.
However, that doesn't rule out the possibility that a trailer will be released around the date, either.
What I can expect from happening IN THE SAME DAY as the Super Bowl but NOT IN, is a viral video with an specific release date, probably February 6th attached with "[Jupiter Ascending](movie:267863)". It is quite a longshot, but possible.
"[Man of Steel](movie:15593)", the first installment of the DC Cinematic Universe, released in 2013 but its marketing began waaay back. The first offical image of Henry Cavill as Superman was released over a year before the movie was officially released. If the past serves us as anything, a short trailer could be coming our way between February 1st and March 1st, hoping they continue with around the same time relation in marketing releases and the official release date.
The last thing we can do is to await patiently, hoping for the best.
