Have you ever noticed that the Star Wars movie universe has a bizarre shortage of female characters? Of course you have, it's 2015.

Granted, most if not all of the Expanded Universe (including games and comics) have picked up the slack from the original saga, but sadly, it's not canon if it's not canon.

Then I suggest we move on.
Then I suggest we move on.

But I think we can all agree that the new trilogy is Disney's chance to give us more than one female character to capture our imaginations (and hearts). We've seen some of Rey (Daisy Ridley), but the rest of the characters are somewhat a mystery for now (where are you Lupita??)

Fortunately, us fans don't wait around. Wojtek Fus is one such fan/illustrator who put together a few sketches of Star Wars girls who pretty much deserve their own movie. Let's partake:

The movies have yet to give us a single female antagonist, which is nonsense. Gwendoline Christie is rumored to change all that in [Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens](movie:711158), though I wish she could have been the sith inquisitor we saw in the trailer (you know, the cross-guard lightsaber wielder).

Red hair, red lightsaber? It's a cool clash, and a "pretty" villain would definitely cause me to have some conflicting emotions.

Darth Maul is the only movie character to wield a double-bladed lightsaber, so we've yet to experience one in the hands of a Jedi.

A female Jedi who has the same attitude face as GoGo Tomago? I'm down.

OK, I don't care if people call her "Volcano Back." I absolutely love the idea of a female villain with a similar design as Darth Scion from Knights of the Old Republic II.

Sure, it's a little gimmicky and the CGI budget would be exceedingly insane, but don't tell me you wouldn't buy the poster.

So this one's actually my favorite because it's way more faithful to what we're looking for in a Star Wars character who happens to be female. Her clothing looks comfortable, she looks awesome, and she doesn't need a lightsaber to take names.

I just hope that's what they're going for with Rey...

We absolutely deserve a female Jedi Master, but I doubt we'll get one anytime soon based on plot rumors for Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens. But I would hope that she looks sort of like this. The spacer jumpsuit and light-green lightsaber work incredibly well.

You can check out more of these sketches on Fus's behance here. And be sure to send him your kudos in the comments!

More importantly, if you have a direct line to J.J. Abrams, then what are you waiting for? You have an email to send.
