We all remember the first time we watched Jurassic Park. The suspense, the tension, the great acting, the soundtrack - the dinosaurs!
Steven Spielberg's adventure classic had audiences young and old gasping and screaming in cinemas around the world when it was released back in 1993. Even today, in an era of hyper-realistic special effects, that a child who's never seen it before can still sit with pure, wide-eyed fascination at the onscreen dino antics is a testament to its longevity.
The glue that held this awe-inspiring film together was, in my opinion, its sturdy and reliable cast - each actor was a "safe pair of hands" for their individual role.
But had the right people had their own way, we could've had a very, very different movie. So different, in fact, that the Jurassic Park we know and love today might've never even existed.
This cast would've been way riskier, but would it have been better? Take a look below and tell me what you think in the comments.
Jim Carrey as Ian Malcolm
Given that Jurassic Park predates Carrey's well-known hits Dumb and Dumber and The Mask, had he landed the role of Ian Malcolm '90s comedy may have had a completely different star.
Apparently Carrey tried tirelessly to convince casting director Janet Hirshenon to cast him as the intelligent mathematician but she stuck to her guns and went with Jeff Goldblum.
I have to say, I'm delighted she did. As much as I love Carrey, I don't think he was right for this one.
Would Jim Carrey have made a better 'Ian Malcolm' than Jeff Goldblum?
Harrison Ford as Dr. Alan Grant
Harrison Ford is well known for his partnership with director Steven Spielberg, starring in Star Wars and Indiana Jones to name but two.
Which is probably why a few eyebrows were raised when a role seemingly written for Ford was given to Sam Neill.
Spielberg later revealed that he'd offered Ford the role of Dr. Alan Grant before Sam Neill, but for some strange reason he declined.

Sandra Bullock as Dr. Ellie Sattler
There are many '90s stars that pop up when researching who was considered for the role of Dr. Ellie Sattler, but one that comes up more than any other is Sandra Bullock.
She was about to make her Hollywood breakthrough in the movie Speed and it's speculated she was a frontrunner for this role until Spielberg opted for Laura Dern at the last minute.
Would Sandra Bullock have made a better 'Dr. Ellie Sattler' than Laura Dern?
Christina Ricci as Lex Murphy
Ricci read for the part of Lex Murphy and put in a dazzling audition. The Adams Family star was the favorite for the role until, inexplicably, she missed out to Ariana Richards.

Sean Connery as John Hammond
The story goes that Connery topped the wish list to play the role of John Hammond in no small part because of his friendship with the movie's writer Michael Crichton.
But it wasn't to be. Connery apparently wanted more money than the studio could afford. Luckily, the late Richard Attenborough stepped in with his own dazzling performance.
