Last night, the US took part in the sacred tradition of watching the Super Bowl. The 49th addition to NFL's biggest game saw the New England Patriots beat the Seattle Seahawks. However, if you are like me, then you likely watched the big game for a different reason. Like every year, the Super Bowl held previews to some of 2015's biggest movies. Most of TV spots teased movies coming out this summer, but other ads were for films that are hitting theaters this month. Nevertheless, the Super Bowl can be great for moviegoers so they can get a glimpse of the movies to come (that is if you are not a Football fan). There was a wide selections of ads that aired during the Super Bowl, but these were the TV Spots that I took away from the event.

Jurassic World

The long awaited continuation to the Jurassic Park franchise is on the way. The fourth installment, [Jurassic World](movie:32752), hits theaters this June so it only makes sense for this adventure to get advertised during the Super Bowl. Being one of the film advertised prior to the Super Bowl. it pleases me to say that the TV Spot did not disappoint. The ad featured new scenes to the blockbuster such as more clips to the mysterious Indominus Rex; which was still well hidden despite the additional footage. The TV spot for Jurassic World showed that this film could be a blockbuster that has been worth the wait; or at the very least it will an entertaining adventure. Jurassic World hits theaters on June 12th.

Terminator: Genisys

The Super Bowl also featured a glimpse at the next installment to the Terminator franchise-[Terminator Genisys](movie:34872). The spot for the reboot was featured days prior to the Big Game, but the ad definitely made its presence known during the event. Unlike the TV spot for Jurassic World, this ad did not feature any new footage. Instead Genisys' spot simply highlighted the first trailer to the blockbuster. While it was a little disappointing, the TV spot managed to showcase that there will be plenty of action in this Sc-fi reboot. It is Terminator after all. Terminator: Genisys hits theaters on July 1st.

Tomorrowland

Last summer, Disney unveiled the first preview to Tomorrowland: a new sci-fi adventure directed by Brad Bird. However, the preview had very little content to show as studio wants to keep as much of [Tomorrowland](movie:731011) as quiet as possible. Fortunately, the super bowl TV spot gave viewers a better idea of what they will see this upcoming movie. While the plot is still a mystery, the ad did feature new scenes to film; which included the first shot of Hugh Laurie's character and plenty of spectacle. The spot does a good job at keeping things secretive while making this an adventure moviegoers do not want to miss come this summer. Tomorrowland hits theaters on May 22nd.

Furious 7

Many viewers will be excited to see the next installment in Fast and Furious franchise: [Furious 7](movie:264263). So it only made sense for the action blockbuster to make an appearance during the Super Bowl. The spot was structured in a way that was similar to the film's first trailer. Along with a glimpse of the plot, the commercial was full of ridiculous (albeit expected) action sequences. Most of the action packed scenes included (what else) cars. This included a massive sequences where Domino leaps from one building to another; and by leap I mean he drives a car through the towers. Needless to say, this TV spot featured just about everything you should anticipate for this latest installment in the Fast and Furious series. Furious 7 hits theaters on April 3rd.

If you were expecting any surprises from this years lineup of movie TV spots, then you were probably greatly disappointed with Super Bowl XLIX. However, though I wished for a better showing, what was presented during the Super Bowl was in tolerable. Most of the spots did enough to get me interested in the upcoming blockbusters; particularly Jurassic World and Tomorrowland. Hopefully, the hype created by these TV spots pays off in the films' favor when these movies hit theaters later this year. Plus, I would not be surprised if we get full length trailers for these advertised blockbusters very soon, particularly Jurassic World and Tomorrowland.
