Now, Agent Carter has, up till now, kept the overt references to the expanded Marvel Cinematic Universe to the bare minimum - instead focusing on rip-roaring period action and espionage drama.

So far, that blend of Mad Men and The Man From U.N.C.L.E has brought us one of the most entertaining 'superhero' TV shows of recent years - but it could now be set to turn things up a notch...and to show us the origins of one of our favorite Marvel superheroes, the Black Widow...

The reason for this suspicion?

Marvel Just Told Us All They're Going To Reveal Black Widow's Origin...

Specifically, in this here newly released teaser for tonight's episode of Agent Carter...

Featuring several pretty big clues, including...

The Fact That Peggy is Heading to Russia...

(Along With The Howling Commandos)

Which very much suggests either a Winter Soldier or Black Widow connection is on its way...

Plus, there's...

The Fact That The Teaser Outright Tells Us This is The Black Widow Training Ground

Which, in fairness, is less of a teaser, and more an outright revelation that 'yes, the Black Widow will definitely be teased in this episode'...

Could We See Even More Than a Training Ground, Though?

Now, those young girls are surely too young to be Natasha 'Black Widow' Romanoff herself (unless it turns out the Soviets utilized a similar freezing technology with her to the one that freezer-burnt The Winter Soldier) - but, that being said...

Could We Be Introduced to Natasha's Mother?

Specifically, could we discover that a certain assassin's real name ends with Romanova, and that she has a daughter named Natalia?

Which, after all, is the real name (such as it is) of everyone's favorite Russian killing machine, The Black Widow...

It might be a long-shot - but it's also exactly the sort of framing device that the MCU likes to use - setting up character's pasts in other movies and series, so that devoted fans can get an extra level of understanding of the character.

And, on a similar note - anyone else expecting an in-jokey reference along the lines of there always being trouble in Budapest, tonight?

What do you guys reckon, though? Will we see the Black Widow (or her mother) appear in Agent Carter? If not, what Marvel characters do you think the show will tease? And just what is the deal with the Howling Commandos, anyway?
