While 2015 has a pretty serious list of films on the way, the people at Paramount are having fun using those movies to help promote their upcoming film SpongeBob Squarepants: Sponge Out of Water which will hit theaters this weekend.

These are the kind of marketing tactics that I love. Not only are they funny and very self-aware, but they'll definitely appeal to audiences who normally wouldn't even look twice at a SpongeBob Squarepants poster. They're stating that these movies aren't just for kids, but for anyone who wants to have a good laugh. Well done!

Fifty Shades of Yellow

To be honest, I'd probably choose to see SpongeBob Squarepants over Christian Grey.

Would SpongeWorld involve visiting his pineapple under the sea? And if so, can I get a Krabby Patty because I am very interested in doing that.

The Spongenator

Are ya ready kids? Well, either way he'll be back.

I would have liked to have seen these even earlier in the game because they're genuinely funny and with a release date a few days away, it's cutting it a little close. But hey, they've still got us talking about it, and that's what counts!

Whether you're a parent going to see this with your kids, a dedicated fan of the series, or you're going to see it ironically in an "elevated state of mind," it looks as if it'll be a fun time for everyone.

[SpongeBob Squarepants: Sponge Out of Water](movie:575700) will be released this Friday, February 6.
