The first poster for [Magic Mike XXL](movie:452782) is here and it wants you to know it. This poster is far from shy, coy, discreet, etc. etc. The Warner Bros. marketing people behind the upcoming Magic Mike sequel know what they're packing and are marketing it as such. Hey, if you've got it, flaunt it!
It's a simple design that directs the eye right to the...um...point.
Coming. We get it. Despite the joke (that's a joke, right?), it's a really well-designed, minimalist poster with a nice color palette. Plus, it never hurts to have Channing Tatum's abs around.
However, given the suggestive nature of it, I'm left wondering whether we will actually see this image plastered on walls, billboards, busses, and the like, or if it will be left to its own devices circulating on the Internet. I guess only time will tell!
Update: I don't personally find the ad offensive or too sexual at all, I'm just posing a question. Will Warner Bros. feel comfortable with this a marketing strategy that includes "COMING" written on Channing Tatum's crotch? If so, will people find it inappropriate? And if they do, what kind of double standard is it setting?
I've got to say, this provocative poster has got me intrigued. Luckily, the first trailer for [Magic Mike XXL](movie:452782) will be released tomorrow and the film is set to hit theaters July 1, 2015.
