Over last 8 years we have seen Marvel create 2 Phase where they created these heroes and villains from Marvel comic books. Some of didnt knew them that well some of us (Comic Readers) knew them very well.

Avengers is not best Marvel movie
Avengers is not best Marvel movie

Over last 8 years Marvel gave us 10 movies. Dividing them into Phases (Phase One: Avengers Assembled & Phase Two). These two phases will include overall 12 movies remaining two will be released later this year (Avengers: Age of Ultron & Ant-Man). Not to mention Television series thrown upon us by Marvel, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.(Takes place after events of Avengers) & Marvel's Agent Carter (Taking place after events of Captain America: First Avenger). Already announcing Daredevil,Jessica Jones,Luke Cafe,Iron Fist & The Defenders as future shows.

Over these movies and shows we have seen many Heroes we all talked about them very much on daily basis (for some of us). But when it comes to villains we only know one name, Joker (Heath Ledger - Dark Knight).

Before countdown begins, I would like to point out I will be exluding some villains out, some names follow belows:

  • Heinz Kruger (Captain America: First Avenger), Hydra spy , who didnt had much to do except kill doctor and then eventually himself.
Richard Armitage as Heinz Kruger
Richard Armitage as Heinz Kruger
  • Senator Stern (Iron Man 2 & Captain America: Winter Soldier), Demanded Tony to hand over secret of Iron man suit to goverment in Iron Man 2, playing as a Hydra operative in Captain America, hinting a little Civil War in the end also except that he was nothing special.
Garry Shandling as Senator Stern
Garry Shandling as Senator Stern
  • Army of Chituari (Avengers), They were ghouls more like.
  • Vice President Rodriguez (Iron Man 3), You dont even remember him, but he was the guy working with Mandarin to hmmm kill President and eventually Tony Stark.
Miguel Ferrer as VP Rodriquez
Miguel Ferrer as VP Rodriquez
  • Mandarin/Trevor Slattery (Iron Man 3), I dont consider him as villain but as hired to be the bad guy kinda actor in movie. He was not evil, he was just acting evil just to create fear.
Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery
Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery
  • The henchmans who had Extremis Virus (Iron Man 3), They were more like henchmen for Mandarin, but some consider them as villains.
  • Maya Hansen (Iron Man 3), I just dont understand her role here in movie, She is not needed.
  • Georges Batroc (Captain America: Winter Soldier), Well he didnt have much to do in movie except that one cool fight againt cap'.
  • Nebula (Guardians of the Galaxy), I will get negative response for this but hear this, she was not the best character of the movie nor she made a good appearence to help that. Movie would/Could be better without her also.
  • Korath (Guardians of the Galaxy), Except the funny moments of Peter making him call Star Lord in then he does that later in movie, there is no real deal except being black alien dude.
Djimon Hounsou as Korath the Pursuer
Djimon Hounsou as Korath the Pursuer
  • Yondu Udonta (Guardians of the Galaxy), I dont really consider him as villain but as antihero kinda of character. Michael Rooker playing it was well done casting boys.
  • Deathlok (Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.)

At the time of his introdcution to show everyone was fed up of the show because lack of no real Marvel character use. We had Phil Coulson and Maria Hill (only Pilot) but when they finally showed that Mike Peterson is really origin for Deathlok we knew something big is happening on the show. Shame later he was not used as frequently. Seeing low budget of tv show, we what kind of visuals and costume we will get even though it was not perfect I really liked it.

  • Season 2 (Update)

His introduction in season 2 was a blind hit, we didnt know he would return but he was backup plan for fugitive Agent Coulson, we even saw his new upgrades. His story has made me pull him of this list as villain because he tried to help good guys and even saved Inhumans.

J. August Richards as Deathlok in AoS
J. August Richards as Deathlok in AoS

So Lets Go!! (list is kinda worst to best)

Malekith (Thor: The Dark World)

Christopher Eccleston as Malekith in Thor:DarkWorld
Christopher Eccleston as Malekith in Thor:DarkWorld

I believe when ever such list will be created Malekith will be given last spot, the Dark Elf from Dark World never really had a go. There can be many reasons but for me big one is poor handling and a poor Thor sequel. He was boring character with one minded approach, destory the universe. We never really felt anything for the character in simple he was dull and its not even actors fault he himself did a great job, being scary and dark.

Ranskahov Brothers (Marvel's Daredevil)

Gideon Emery & Nikolai Nikolaeff
Gideon Emery & Nikolai Nikolaeff

Initially shown as prisoners in Russia, who escaped by killing their captor. Their job at Hell's Kitchen was the transporting of drugs produced by Madame Gao. Showing us they were more than brothers and cared for each other even one is wrong. Beacuse they went through alot together only they survived. Anatoly is killed by Kingpin while his brother thinks it was Men under the hood who killed him, only to find that it was Wilson Fisk who accidently killed him and blamed the Daredevil of killing his brother. Sad ending for the brothers as Vladimir is killed in action after knowing whole truth.

King Laufey (Thor)

Colm Feore as King Laufey in Thor
Colm Feore as King Laufey in Thor

Another Thor enemy King Laufey was one of those villains for me where you just wished he had something better to do if not then remove him. Being Leader to Frost Giants he was not all villainy.

Raza (Iron Man)

Faran Tahir as Raza in Iron Man
Faran Tahir as Raza in Iron Man

Officialy first villain for Marvel Cinematic Villain, Raza is a terrorist who is working for Obadiah Stane, his job to keep an eye on Tony Stark to create Jericho missiles for him.

Ronan the Accuser (Guardians of the Galaxy)

Lee Pace as Ronan in Guardians of the Galaxy
Lee Pace as Ronan in Guardians of the Galaxy

Better than all above but to be honest he was one minded guy like Malekith, to destroy universe, sigh! His fights and appearence in movie is better than Malekith. His scenes when talking to Thanos or just watching big screen or sitting on that throne?! are the dullest moments of Guardians of the Galaxy.

Madame Gao (Marvel's Daredevil)

Wai Ching Ho as Madame Gao
Wai Ching Ho as Madame Gao

We never got the backstory of Gao but she was badass. Showing us that everyone is scared of this old lady plus she knows some how how to kick ass since she side chomps Daredevil himself just before fleeting. Her role was mystery and only thing we got to knew was that she produced Heroin using blind people. She went back to her homeland to reflect her future, she knew it was fall of Wilson Fisk.

Im pretty sure she will return for Season 2 as she was somehow link to Steel Serpent the rival to Iron Fist.

Creel (Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.)

Brian Patrick Wade as Absorbing Man in AOS
Brian Patrick Wade as Absorbing Man in AOS

Known as Carl Creel, a boxer who can absorb elements of whatever he touches, working as HYRDA worker, who do anything HYRDA asked. Introduced in Season 2, he was mean and powerful was on list of SHIELD as Absorbing Man.

  • (UPDATE)

Some nods were given to Agents of SHIELD-Daredevil when his name was shown on Daredevil as fighter who fought Matt Murdock' father. We still have to see that fight probably in season 2.

Raina (Marvels Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D)

Ruth Negga as Raina
Ruth Negga as Raina

When she first appeared in "Girl in the Flower Dress" I enjoyed her but then was annoying up until the point when she became Inhuman with Skye using Diviner. Her transformation really turns her into Inhuman. Her transformation is not like Skye her appearance is changed which spikes on her head and giving her ability to dream/predict future. She even predicted the event of Age of Ultron before release of the movie.

She was getting interesting but show decided to kill her off by Jiyang somewhat leader of Inhumans and mother of Skye.

Obadiah Stane (Iron Man)

Jeff Bridges as Obadiah Stane in Iron Man
Jeff Bridges as Obadiah Stane in Iron Man

Second villain to Iron Man in first movie, Obadiah was like a father to Tony and guy to look up to or to work as side to side. Just like movie he was not the guy to be considered as enemy. But working as a undercover to sell artilery to terriosts was bad enough that he even pulled arc reactor from Tony Stark to create Iron Monger was cold and very bad! Jeff Bridges brings wickedness and confident personalty to character which makes him good but the way he go out was low and unnecessary.

Ivan Vanko (Iron Man 2)

Mickey Rourke as Whiplash in Iron Man 2
Mickey Rourke as Whiplash in Iron Man 2

Another Iron Man villain Whiplash/Ivan was villain to most anticapated movie of that year, specially after success of Iron Man, Marvel Universe was still under its early parts. Mickey Rourke played Whiplash with a style expected from character, personally I liked him, he stole all the scenes from RDJ even though they were few to steal. But his accent? I needed subtitles for that. Stupid custume. And to see what he had in arsenal before army of Hammer IronMans he had Whips.

Brock Rumlow (Captain America: Winter Soldier)

Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow in Winter Soldier
Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow in Winter Soldier

Known as Crossbones but is never called that in Winter Soldier, he is henchmen and operative of S.T.R.I.K.E Captain America team, he is ordered to capture/kill Captain America & Black Widow by SHIELD hmm HYRDA. Has a fine fight with FALCON is left to burn but is still alive.

Justin Hammer (Iron Man 2)

Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer in Iron Man 2
Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer in Iron Man 2

Rival to Stark Industry, Justin owns HAMMER industry but with a master plan to elimnate the competition and hiring Whiplash to create army of HammerHeads plus his accent and funny moments. I really digged him and hoped for more of him.

Agent Sitwell (Thor,Avengers,(Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Captain America: Winter Soldier)

Maximiliano Hernández as Jasper Sitwell
Maximiliano Hernández as Jasper Sitwell

Yeah, the good guy, friend,a compatriot to Phil Coulson.Jasper was a agent of SHIELD but until Winter Soldier. We saw who he really is a member to HYDRA, yeah! Way to go spy game. before going out in Cap 2, he teased us Doctor Strange didnt he.

James Wesley (Marvel's Daredevil)

Toby Leonard Moore as James Wesley
Toby Leonard Moore as James Wesley

The right hand man to Wilson Fisk. Wesley was one of the characters on show who was brillant. He was created solely for the show and it paid off. Most of the time he is shown cleaning up messes for Fisk and disturbuting orders of Fisk. Typical right hand stuff.

Agent 33 (Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.)

Maya Stojan as Agent 33 in AoS
Maya Stojan as Agent 33 in AoS

Ok, she has two faces up until now on the show one is portrayed by Maya Stojan and other by Ming-Na Wen, who is also portaying May. After getting brainwashed by Hydra, using same Photostatic Veil used by Black Widow in Captain America Winter Soldier Agent 33 as face of Melinda May, damaged after a fight with Real Melinda May.

General Ross (Incredible Hulk)

William Hurt as General Ross in Incredible Hulk
William Hurt as General Ross in Incredible Hulk

Using his daughter to get to the Hulk, and securing life of her only and loved daughter. General Ross had tough job. William is great to bringing both, Father and a General to saveguard the city. Due to no success for the movie that much Shame that Hulk got no succes and we havent seen tis character.

John Garrett ((Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.)

Bill Paxton as John Garret in AoS
Bill Paxton as John Garret in AoS

The first Deathlok subject which was not a success. John Garrett was a undercover memeber for HYDRA, the mastermind behind Project Centipede hence was known as Clairvoyant.Worked as friend to Phil Coulson and was SO to Grant Ward. Was killed by Phil and Cameo by Nick Fury in finale of season 1.

Emil Blonsky (Incredible Hulk)

Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky in Incredible Hulk
Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky in Incredible Hulk

Never liked him when first saw movie but after rewatching several times started to dig this guy. Emil Blonsky is like origin story for the Abomination 9cool name right) even cooler fights with the Hulk. Getting super soldier serum and hunger for power Emil is transformed in to best enemy for hulk.

Jiyang (Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D)

She was mother to Skye and wife to Calvin, she was also one of the first Inhumans so she is shown as leader of small of Inhumans in secret place where only his right hand man,Teleporter- Gordon. She starts off real nice to everyone soon shown her true nature when her position is challenged by Raina and then SHIELD 2.0. Killing one of top directors to start a war against SHIELD she does really good job to show bad side. And her ability not to age and to to heal herself is great addition. She even has these Terragen Pillars she can use to kill off a human.

Dr. Arnim Zola (Captain America: First Avenger, Winter Soldier)

Toby Jones as Dr.Arnim Zola
Toby Jones as Dr.Arnim Zola

Villain with only brains but no super powered ability, Dr.Arnim is great. in First Avenger working scientist to Vigor (Red Skull) he was terrified and weak at that moment but later in Winter Soldier we see him as computer with Arnim Zola's consciousness kept deep in army base. Unlike human version here Arnim Zola is even better creating alogrithm to destroy every human to will not obey Hydra before Hydra even gets real power.Master Class!

Alexander Pierce (Captain America: Winter Soldier)

Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce
Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce

Alexander Pierce I knew he was bad guy from start but convincing performance from Robert Redford was only great thing about this character.

Aldrich Killian (Iron Man 3)

Guy Pearce as Aldrich Killian in Iron Man 3
Guy Pearce as Aldrich Killian in Iron Man 3

The real Mandarin and mastermind behind the Extremis project. He was a sociopath a guy breathing fire from mouth. I dont think I have to say anything else. Pearce perfectly well a nerd, as lover boy and a villain with real deal.

Daniel Whitehall (Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.)

Reed Diamond as Daniel Whitehall in AoS
Reed Diamond as Daniel Whitehall in AoS

There are many doctors in the Marvel Universe, Daniel Whitehall is a sick one. Appearing in season 2 arc for Agents of SHIELD. As a head to new Hydra (after events of Winter Soldier). Obessed to gain Obelisk AKA Diviner. Ability to brainwash.

Later reaveled that Whitehall was elite member to HYDRA locked Agents Carter in 1945, preserving his himself by the DNA and organs (Sick scene) of a young women who doesnt seem to age. Althought Whitehall dies shot by Phil Coulson in season 2 finale.

Calvin Zabo (Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.)

Kyle MacLachlan as Calvin Zabo in AoS
Kyle MacLachlan as Calvin Zabo in AoS

Appearing as "The Doctor", is said father to Skye. He is maniac with no control over his anger hence called monster by his daughter. Later revealed as orgins to character named Calvin Zabo was out on revenge against Whitehall for murdering his wife ( the same young women Whitehall took DNA and organs from) even though he doesnt gets revenge because of Phil.

  • (UPDATE Season 2)

Season 2 brings this character to many different faces he first ensembles all the rejected people by SHIELD to go against SHIELD which was amazing part of start of season 2, but when that fails his wife Jiyang takes him in to calm him and make him better person. Thats where see another face where we see that he just wanna be with her daughter and wife just to make his family whole again.

At end Agent Coulson gives him TAHITI project and washes his memories and everything, which is kind a sad because he can even recognize his own daughter Skye anymore either/

Grant Ward (Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.)

Brett Dalton as Grant Ward in AoS
Brett Dalton as Grant Ward in AoS

Now for me was excellent sub plot then main plot and then again sub plot for Agents of SHIELD not many will agree to this one being high up in the list but for those who watched the show till season 2 will agree somewhat. Grant Ward originally as black ops for SHIELD. It is later revealed that Ward is really Hydra agent working for John Garret. Most of the times in season 2, he is captured by remaining new SHIELD members in a Hannibal-esque prison. As secret love for Skye while May is showed to have some feeling towards him later in show that feeling destroyed. Ward plays a major role and after seeing how show revealed real faces of Skye/Mike Peterson/Doctor & Raina. We can hope Grant Ward will be revealed someone really important in Marvel Cinematic Universe.

(UPDATE Season 2)

Season 2 bought Ward in some diffifult place. He is shown trying to mend his pains by helping Agent 33.

  • Winter Soldier (Captain America: Winter Soldier)

Bucky Barnes who is said to be captured after events of First Avenger is later revealed in Winter Soldier as Winter Soldier, a brainwashed-hydra-working-guy. All those years when Cap was frozen Winter Soldier is said to be doing evil stuff, killing and etc. He is no longer same Bucky a friend to Steve. Eager to complete his missions, Winter Soldier is strong and has powerful mechanic arm. Hoping Cap' 3 has more Winter Soldier/BuckyBarnes.

Red Skull (Captain America: First Avenger)

Hugo Weaving as Red Skull in First Avenger
Hugo Weaving as Red Skull in First Avenger

Schmidt was evil, convincing evil. Yes was everything a Nazi leader should. Seeing that Hitler is about lose, Schmidt tries to find Teserract power with his own organization - HYDRA. Hugo performs Red Skull even better, ruthless power hungery villain to Captain America. If we see all marvel movies as standalones Red Skull can be considered as great villain. Was he killed? or not we dont know that, he was/is amazing villain for future.

Loki (Thor,Avengers, Thor: The Dark World)

Tom Hiddleston as Loki
Tom Hiddleston as Loki

Surprised? No way i think so. Loki is only character (VILLAIN) to appear in 3 Marvel movies from Cinematic Universe. Loki character amde by Joss is so cool and evil at same time that we all feel in love wth Tom Hiddleston. Tom himself brings a sociopath look to character. Is it long hair in Thor 2 or being all powerful in Avengers, Tom has really out done himself. Quickly fell into list of the great villains ever to hit the screen. With so much screen we still wait for his own movie.

So there it is list to Marvel Cinematic Universe top/best villains.

Leaving out only one evil character,

Thanos (Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy)

Josh Brolin as Thanos
Josh Brolin as Thanos

At this moment we really dont know what is he like. Appeared three times on screen. We know his plan,we know his enemy, we know his army. But we dont know if he really is a great evil villain to be in my list yet. Josh Brolin sure has face for Thanos that said.

Update 1 {21 June 2015}, Removed numbering but stil worst to best. updated info.

Update 2, {24 July 2015), Updated information inclined with Marvel Agents of SHIELD season 2.
