Scarlet Witch has what Liam Neeson would call, a certain set of skills. Her abilities to cast hex bolts and manipulate chaos magic can make Wanda Maximoff a very powerful superhero indeed. But unlike those of Liam Neeson's, they're unfortunately not the most reliable set of skills and they have the unfortunate tendency to backfire - on both Scarlet Witch and whomever may be the recipient of one of Wanda' s hexes. Such is the power of magic - the dangers of which I'm sure we'll hear more of from Doctor Strange.
In [The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](movie:293035), we're going to see exactly how Scarlet Witch joins forces with the Avengers and chances are it won't be the most harmonious of unions. If the past issues of Avengers comics are any indication, our heroes may be in for some brain bending times with Ms. Maximoff.
Scarlet Witch's hexes can do all manner of damage and one of their specialities is getting into peoples heads and doing damage of the psychic sort. Turning this painful talent upon the members of the Avengers is not an unprecedented event. And from the looks of thing, this may be exactly what is in store for our collective heroes in Avengers 2.
People have already been taking notice of Hulk's red eyes while he's been seen in full0on rampage mode in the trailers. And there's also Thor's screams of bathtub agony and those possible visions of Ragnarok he may be treated to. Let's not forget those images of needles and medical procedures that have popped up in the trailers as well. Could we be having a look at each characters darkest memories?
Or will they be treated to the visions of the bleakest future? Is a Scarlet Witch induced vision of a painful memory or a traumatic future what causes Hulk to go Savage? Will we finally see the brutal past that turned [Black Widow](movie:1070824) and Hawkeye into who they are? Why is Thor having such a bad time in that bathtub?
Hopefully this messing of the Avenger minds is an accident and isn't an outright attack on the heroes by Scarlet Witch. Though again, this isn't without its occurrence in the Marvel tomes. If the Avengers are thought to be responsible for some horrific event in Wanda's life, the team could be in store for some really bad headaches.
There are those moments where we see Scarlet Witch and her brother Quicksilver in some sort of protest mode... Did something happen to Wanda and Pietro while the big battle of the first Avengers movie was going on? Did she, uh oh... loose her kids? When you're talking about Marvel characters with tragic pasts - you can rank Scarlet Witch up there pretty high.
Let's hope that whatever the case may be, the Avengers and Scarlet Witch can iron out their differences in Avengers 2 and make things work. After all, it looks like this whole Ultron crisis might be the bigger problem at hand. And that Scarlet Witch has a way with robots...
