Space. It's the final frontier. Nobody can hear you scream there. We've already put a rover on Mars and are very legitimately putting humans on Mars next. In a few years we might be aiming our sights towards other planets, or perhaps even galaxies. But did you know about some of the creepy possible findings that we may have already come across?
There's obviously a lot we don't know about space, but these six potentially true theories take the cake for me as far as being the most mind-boggling and fear-inducing.
So, let's get right in to it.
1. A NASA mission to protect Jupiter's moons was actually much more sinister?
Some conspiracy theorists say a NASA mission was actually a preliminary test for the Lucifer Project, which is a plot to turn Jupiter into another Sun. The implications for this are very disturbing.
According to Before It's News:
The new sun would enable the moons of Saturn to be heated possibly making them suitable for colonization and other uses by humanity. On the other hand, the creation of a new sun would generate a shock wave of hydrogen and other particles that could have devastating effects on Earth.
I could kind of see this happening, although it would be very creepy. The Earth turning into some kind of [Elysium](movie:44956) type post-apocalyptic place with the 1% wealthiest humans living on the moons above.
2. A nuclear explosion wiped off previous life on Mars?
Martians may have never existed in the way we have portrayed them in movies, but there is a theory that there may have been life on Mars. And it may have been wiped out by a nuclear explosion? Yes, this is backed by a real scientist.
There's a scientist named Dr. John Brandenburg who gave a research talk in Illinois presenting his theory that ancient life on Mars was massacred by some alien species. There were these images of what appears to be sculptures of faces on Mars, which would be further proof that some civilization once existed there.
Brandenburg claims two races - the Cydonians and the Utopians - once existed on Mars and that detection of Uranium and Thorium on the surface is enough evidence to say there is proof for a nuclear explosion. He also warns Earth should be wary of an attack as well! Yikes!
3. Celestial bodies may have been responsible for ACTUAL crazy Biblical events?
Another theory that is backed by a scientist who wrote an entire book on the subject comes from Immanuel Velikovsky. The aptly dubbed "Velikovsky Theory" states that many of the cataclysmic, seemingly improbable events from the Bible actually happened due to the way celestial bodies and star figurations were aligned.
Velikovsky thought and theorized that Earth came into catastrophically close contact to other planets (principally Venus and Mars), and that it was this Mercury Retrograde-esque celestial alignment that led to the possibility for strange events to take place:
Some examples of is claims:
- The Bible speaks of a day when the sun stood still to allow Joshua to finish a battle
- Material that fell from Venus's comet tail into Earth's atmosphere apparently caused the plagues visited upon Egypt as recorded in the Bible
- As Earth went deeper into the comet's tail the dust turned to small stones and a hail of gravel pelted the Earth: "...there was hail, and fire mingled in with hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation," the Bible reads.
In fact, as a theologist as well, he played a key role in founding the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Israel.
4. Italians intercepted communications of a 'Gravity' type death
During the Space Race in the 1960s, there were some Italian brothers (not the Super Mario brothers) who set up a listening station in Italy to intercept communication transmissions between ground operations and spacecraft for the two sides - American and Soviet.
Apparently, the Italian brothers, named the Judica-Cordiglia's reported that they intercepted communications of a Russian man dying on a mission in space in a [Gravity](movie:41913) style situation where he was floating through space gradually to his death.
Of course, the Soviet government denied these claims, but if this is true, that is truly pretty creepy and insane. Supporters of these brothers' claims think the Soviet government tried to cover up this failed mission to maintain that they were leaders in space exploration. Pretty brutal if true!
5. There's an extra planet in our solar system called Planet X
This is going to remind you of the movie 2012, but there is rumored to be an extra planet in our solar system. The rumor is that it is enormous and is heading closer to Earth. If true, it'll cause wreckage and mayhem akin to the movie and we will all be screwed.
6. The US used science to thwart Russia's Mars mission?
Now, this one is very interesting. As Cold War tensions were mounting, and Russia was looking to send a probe to Mars (which would have been a big win in the 'Space Race'), a government program in the USA may have been used to thwart that mission!
That program is HAARP, which stands for "High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program", and it was originally designed and meant to analyze the ionosphere and investigate the potential for developing ionospheric enhancement technology for radio communications and surveillance.
The conspiracy theorists argue that Americans were able to tamper with their comms, which led to a failed mission. I myself think if this was possible, it wouldn't be too far out of the cards for American leadership to do something of this nature. Russia was a very real threat, and letting them get ahead was not something we were okay with.
Bonus: The first moon landing was fake?
This is obviously one of the most famous conspiracy theories of all time. The epically popular depiction of the "one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" 1969 moon landing may have actually been recorded in a studio on a soundstage!
Theorists believe that if you look closely at the background and the whole scene, it appears to be pretty clear that it's not real. Of course, there was no HD video back then, and you could probably get away with more than you can nowadays due to much lower quality footage, but I personally would be devastated if this was true.
Once again, this was a Cold War move that was huge for us. We put a man on the moon first. Amurrica!
Which of these do you think is most likely to be true?
Which conspiracy theory holds the most weight?
