Thought to be one of the best horror films of 2013, acclaimed director Guillermo Del Toro's "Mama" tells the disturbing tale of two little girls who disappeared into the woods the day that their parents were killed. But years after they were rescued, they soon realize that some freaky beings still want to tuck them up in bed at night.
The film showcased not just Del Toro's talent, but also the exceptional skills of the special effects team. The way the team animated the dead children's parent, Mama, truly made my skin crawl.
Now, we can see exactly how they did it! And as it turns out, it's just as disconcerting to watch the movement being constructed as it is to watch the finished scene from the movie!
In the footage, actor and contortionist Javier Botet is seen practicing moving around as Mama. It's astonishing that a human being can move in such a devilish manner!
Watch the test footage below.
You have to give Botet some credit, that's some serious dedication to be able to contort your body like that.
Watch more behind the scenes action from 'Mama' in the clip below. Here we see the skills and expertise of the film's make-up team!
They're all super talented!
