Marvel's first female-centered program with a (former) superhero as a lead is coming to Netflix this year, and now we have the first images of the this landmark show!
In case you missed the announcement, [Jessica Jones](series:1168773) suffers a traumatic end to her superhero career and opens up her own detective agency. The series is called A.K.A. Jessica Jones, and versatile actress Krysten Ritter was the lucky gal who landed the role. The story will follow Jones as she deals with post-traumatic stress disorder from her time as a high-flying hero. Now, she's taking on bad guys from the ground as a private detective.
The first images from set have just landed, and they prove that this amazing new show is really getting off the ground!
Krysten Ritter IS Jessica Jones
And she looks absolutely perfect. I was already on the hook with this casting choice just out of my rabid love for Krysten Ritter, and now that I can see her in costume, I'm pretty thrilled. Sure, they're pretty average, casual clothes, but now we have photographic proof that filming is underway! I'm using this as reason to celebrate.
Production kicked off under the the working title, Violet, and filming is happening in the Bronx, New York. There were early reports from Netflix COO Ted Sarandos that it's "too hard to say" if A.K.A. Jessica Jones will be available to watch in 2015. However, considering Netflix's efficient track record with filming, these first images from set are an extremely promising sign.
A striking resemblance
From [Don't Trust The B In Apartment 23](series:754299) to [Breaking Bad](series:200567), Krysten Ritter has stolen pretty much every scene she's in, and I can't wait to see what kind of work she does with such a dynamic character. Couple her sure-to-be impeccable performance with a crossover with [Luke Cage](movie:586393), and I think we've got a winner here.
I'm really looking forward to seeing how Marvel handles a more "street-level" storyline, and I think Jessica Jones is sure to add a new, refreshing perspective to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, we just need some images of David Tennant as the utterly maniacal Kilgrave to really ramp up anticipation.
How do you feel about this first look at future Netflix ass-kicker and justice-server? Are you happy with this early look at Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones?
