Ever Since Episode 1: The Phantom Menace was first projected in theaters, the fan base has never been the same. A large portion have turned against the prequels, criticizing the massive amounts of CGI, acting and a variety of other things. Others like myself, actually enjoy the prequels, but that has little to do with my point right now. Now throughout all of the villains that occupy the Star Wars universe, of all the sith lords and bounty hunters that are running around, their seems to be a common villain among many (not all) Star Wars fans. That person happens to be...

That's right, George Lucas himself. How many videos have you watched with someone mad about an original trilogy special edition or a prequel re-release that pretty much ended in saying "screw you Lucas". I mean, that Phantom Menace 3D re-release was just as useless as you'd think, but back to my point! It's pretty much a common thing for people to blame George for everything that's gone wrong with the franchise. From Jar Jar to the terrible acting jobs at times, he's usually the one strung up. Now don't get me wrong, those are probably his fault. As much as I love every Star Wars movie to death (yes even the prequels) I have to admit that like with EVERY MOVIE EVER MADE, the movies have some flaws. Some bigger than others, but flaws none the less. While it's easy to point these out and crucify the guy at every turn, there's something that a lot of people seem to be forgetting. It's that this guy created our favorite franchise.

Without this guy, there probably wouldn't be a Star Wars. Yes I understand there were others working collaborating and contributing to the project, but who was the true creator? Who is the father of the Star Wars universe? To all the Star Wars fans, imagine a world where you go to comic con without stormtroopers and Darth Vader's running around. One without this....

All jokes aside, (love those new Star Trek movies btw) Lucas gave us something that really is timeless. 38 years later and we're all still excited for what new game and movie is coming out this year.

Many of us define this saga as big part of our childhood. Not to mention he was a big contributor in the Indiana Jones series. Bottom line is, for all the crap that people give Lucas for some of his decisions, It's easy to forget the impact this guy had on Pop culture. You may be glad someone else is taking on the franchise now...

...but remember, someone had to make that franchise in the first place, and it's for that reason that I say Thank You George Lucas, for creating MY FAVORITE Film Franchise of all time.
