Many horror films are known for having a scary theme (like A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday The 13th, Psycho), but when it comes to having awesome songs sung by rock bands, I'm gonna give you these 8 horror theme songs:
8. Brave New Love by Alien - Blob (1988)
This awesome song sung by Swedish Rock band Alien has to be one of my few favorite theme songs about a giant amoeba killing and eating people in small town (sorry it doesn't have a Music Video).
7. Fright Night by J. Geils Band - Fright Night (1985)
This awesome theme from the original Fright Night has to be the greatest theme of all vampire films from the '80s, especially being sung by J. Geils and his band.
6. Gremlins...Mega Madness by Michael Sembello - Gremlins (1984)
This had to be my favorite of all The Gremlins soundtracks, written by Sembello (many old school '80s horror fans would remember him for the song Maniac for the Flashdance soundtrack).
5. Bad Moon Rising by Creedence Clearwater Revival - An American Werewolf in London (1981)
I remember loving this song after watching An American Werewolf in London as a child, it was just so country rock 'n roll! I especially love the scene where the main character David is transforming into a werewolf.
4. Cry Little Sister by Gerard McMann - The Lost Boys (1987)
This is my second vampire film theme along with Fright Night (above) especially as a Kiefer Sutherland fans (he was way awesome as James from Twilight) and this film was famous when Corey Feldman and Corey Haim (RIP) met for the first time and formed the Two Corey's until the latter's death in 2010.
3. Ghostbusters by Ray Parker JR. - Ghostbusters (1984)
Even though this is a Horror Comedy (Horromedy) I included it because it happens to be the most popular of all movie themes since the '80s, and I love the cameos in the music video featuring Chevy Chase, Danny Devito, John Candy (RIP), etc.
Who you gonna call?? GHOSTBUSTERS!!!!!!
2. He's Back (The Man Behind the Mask) by Alice Cooper - Friday The 13th Part VI: Jason Lives (1986)
This is has to be the greatest song in a Friday the 13th that I've heard in my entire life. (I'm gonna count this as Jason Voorhees' personal theme). Also, the film in which this song appear happens to be the debut of Jason as an immortal, invincible zombie, which many modern fans will recognize.
1. Dream Warriors by Dokken - A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987)
My favorite of all horror movie songs.
What I like about this song (especially the music video) can be shown through these three reasons: 1) It featured Patricia Arquette (congrats to her for winning a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Boyhood) as the main girl Kristen, 2) Dokken beat the movie antagonist mascot Freddy Krueger, and 3) Freddy Himself just got scared by his own nightmare!!!
