Tonight Eddie Redmayne won yet another award for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in [The Theory of Everything](movie:1000359). And I have to say that I truly believe that he is a worthy winner of the award, his portrayal of Stephen Hawking was astonishing and everything that you could ask for. He is convincing not only physically in the role but also he is believable in the pain. His potrayal is so convincing that you forget that you are watching an actor and not actually watching Stephen Hawking.
But the question is, will he win the Oscar?
So far Eddie Redmayne looks like the front runner, he has won that majority of the awards leading up to the Oscars and that usually lets us know who could win the Oscar. But in the rest of the contestants there are some candidates who could win, and some people may believe they should win. Michael Keaton won the Best Actor in an Comedy at the Golden Globes and the Critics Choice Award, this could be a good sign that he is still in the running to win the Oscar. The rest of the candidates, Steve Carell and Benedict Cumberbatch have not won any of the Best Actor awards leading up to the Oscars however there is one contestant who could swoop in and win at the last minute.
Bradley Cooper has not been nominated for the Best Actor award at any other large ceremony so far other then the Oscars, other then the Critics Choice Awards where he won Best Actor in a Action Movie. American Sniper mainly hasn't been nominated at the awards ceremonies thus far mainly due to its late release. Bradley Cooper's portrayal of Chris Kyle, was incredible. Bradley Cooper completely transformed into the character, giving heart and courage to a man. He beautifully told this man's story. However can he win the Oscar? With the controversy behind American Sniper stop it winning any Academy Awards?
The Theory Of Everything and [American Sniper](movie:401418) both tell heartfelt stories of men and both the leading actors of these films deserve the Academy Award.
So who do you think deserves to win the Oscar?
