Before I continue to the review I want to let people know there will be spoilers and that the review is going to be based on the throne of Atlantis story arc from justice league the New 52.

Hello there fellow readers, if your here, then that means you are either an [Aquaman](movie:264237) fan, justice league fan or just a DC fan. Well me personally I'm an Aquaman fan and I mean real big fan, which is why I'm disappointed in this movie. I wanted it to be much more, it could have been so much more and it should've been much more. It's a shame how justice league war was so good and faithful to the story arc and throne of Atlantis feels like a very different story from the comics. They take and replace many of the things that made the story of throne of Atlantis such a big deal. So without further delay, here are my reasons why throne of Atlantis doesn't deserve the crown.

1. Arthur's father's death.

So this is where the movie started bugging me. They never show you how he died or why he died and they don't show The aftermath of it either. They just introduce you to a washed up Aquaman. (Get it?) in the New 52 Aquaman comics they show you the how and why Arthur's father died and the aftermath it had on young Arthur's life.

2. Talking to sea life.

This is a common misconception of Aquaman's ability. In Aquaman 001 Arthur explains to a magazine reporter at a local seafood restaurant how his ability works. He explains that he taps into the animals subconscious and in a way makes them help him. He also explains that such ability lets him see things the animal has seen or felt. He doesn't talk to sea creatures.

3. Dr. Shin

Dr. Shin, a very important person in aquamans young life. Shin was a close friend of Arthur's father and reached Aquaman to use and control his powers. In the movie Shin is shown as just some stranger who's trying to talk to Aquaman and dies in a matter of minutes. Even now in the comics Dr. Shin is alive and well.

Mera.

4.Mera

Mera, Aquamans beloved queen. Former queen of Xebel and former sleeper agent. Mera is undoubtedly a badass, but she is a bad ass queen NOT a bad ass bodyguard. Seriously a body guard? They even made her and Aquaman strangers and they met during a fight scene trying to fight of the monsters from the trench. In the comics they are already married by the time the trenches appear.

Vulko.

5. Vulko

Where the hell is Vulko in the entire movie? Technically without Vulko there wouldn't be a throne of Atlantis story arc and Arthur would have never been Aquaman. Vulko is Aquaman's advisor and protector when he was a child. Sent by his mother the queen of Atlantis and he was the one to bring Arthur the news of his mother's death.

6. Orm

Orm, Aquaman's brother. Though his voice acting was good they way the character was done was not like the comics. Instead, he was based on the classic Orm, the one who hated everything when in the New 52 comics norm actually cares for Arthur and Atlantis. He just doesn't trust surface dwellers and blame them for the attacks that begin the war between the surface and Atlantis.

7. The entire war

This was the biggest disappointment of them all. One of the great things about the throne of Atlantis story arc is the war. So many things happened, some many memorable lines were said and conflicts between the justice league where confronted there. But the movie just reduces everything to a small scene that's not even good except when Aquaman summons the great white to kill black manta. (Which he actually did in the comics.) but other than that it was a very short and uninteresting war sequence.

I'm sure there are a few more things that were wrong, but these are the ones that destroyed the movie for me. If you are an Aquaman fan and are currently following the comics, then there is no way I can recommend this movie. But if you have no knowledge of Aquaman and want to dive in (get it?) to see what the fuzz is about then go right ahead. That's why I've decided to give throne of Atlantis a 4 out of 10.

Let me know your opinion in the comments below, do you think this movie is a fish out of water or is it a nice swim? Can't wait to see your opinions, thanks for reading and have a nice one!
