As much as I watch [The Walking Dead](series:201193), it seems like the writers and directors manage to pack the show full of more things than I can catch in the first viewing. Director, Executive Producer and Special Effects master, Greg Nicotero is particularly adept at including these little details, and he managed to sneak a nice little extra into the latest show, episode 9 "What Happened and What's Going On" in the form of his trademark tribute zombie!

After last night's shocking premier, Greg Nicotero was a guest star on The Talking Dead hosted by Chris Hardwick, where it was revealed that one of the grim looking walkers from "What Happened and What's Going On" was a nod to a ghoulish character named Grimsdyke from the English film Tales From the Crypt, take a look:

There's no mistaking those creepy sunken eyes! Did you see where he was in the episode? He appeared near the end as the group were dragging Tyreese back to their vehicle, through the wire fence:

In Tales From the Crypt, Grimsdyke was played by Englishman Peter Cushing who was known for his roles in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope as Grand Moff Tarkin and Dr. Who and the Daleks as Dr. Who, among many, many others.

Nicotero was also the director for episode 12 and the season finale, episode 16, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for any more perspective tribute zombies out there!

Did you notice the tribute zombie? Tell me below!
