On Saturday, Bruce Jenner was involved in an accident in which a 69 year-old woman was tragically killed when her Lexus collided with oncoming traffic near Malibu, California. Investigations are still underway concerning who was to blame for the woman's death.
However, unlike previously thought, it has now become clearly apparent that Keeping Up With The Kardashian reality star and gold medal-winning Olympian Jenner may NOT be the driver at fault.
According to new evidence, the woman reportedly rear-ended a Toyota Prius, before being hit herself by Bruce's SUV. As a result her car was pushed in a southbound lane and was then fatally hit by a fast-moving Hummer.
The police department seems to be under the impression that the Prius came to a sudden stop on the highway in an attempt to make an illegal U-turn. As a result, the Lexus slammed into the vehicle, with Bruce's SUV unable to swerve in time.
Clearly, the accident had already occurred before Bruce's car collided with the woman's Lexus.
Who is criminally liable?
At the moment, none of the drivers are being investigation for vehicular manslaughter and it is believed that there is no criminal liability on Bruce's part. However, if it is found that the Prius did in fact stop without warning, breaking the driving code, its driver could be partly responsible for the horrendous accident.
Previous reports that Bruce was smoking at the time of the chain-reaction accident have also been dropped.
Last night, Jenner released a statement regarding the horrific accident:
"My heartfelt and deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones, and to all of those who were involved or injured in this terrible accident [...] It is a devastating tragedy, and I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time. I am praying for them. I will continue to cooperate in every way possible."
But didn't Bruce say earlier that the paparazzi were chasing him?
In a state of total shock, Bruce earlier claimed that he was being chased by reporters which may have clouded his judgement and interfered in the road safety of the highway. However, according to police reports there were no sign of photographers following him.
The Los Angeles Country Sheriff's Department stated that:
"There is no indication at this time it was a contributing factor of the crash."

The crash comes at a time of widespread rumors that Bruce is actually becoming a woman.
Despite no official statements regarding the much-talked about issue being given, Bruce's increasingly feminine appearance (including a hot-pink manicure, bouncier hair-dos, an altered physique) continues to raise eyebrows and add to speculations that he is definitely transitioning into a woman.
