Last weekend saw the 68th British Academy Film Awards being held in London. Although the event might still be considered secondary to the Oscars in terms of prestige, the results of the BAFTAs still hold serious significance.

In recent years, the results of the BAFTAs have been seen as extremely prophetic for the Academy Awards held later in the year. For example, since 2009 every single Best Film BAFTA winner has gone on to win the Best Film Award at the Academy. The same is often true for director and the Best Acting nods, although there is slightly more variance in these, especially the latter. Furthermore, in 2009, the winners of the main six BAFTA awards (Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress) were exactly the same as the winners of the six main Oscars.

With his in mind, use these results to plan you're own Oscar predictions.
