The Witcher 3 is a title that has a tremendous degree of pressure placed upon it in terms of what we can expect from NextGen on the Xbox One and PS4. Naturally, the PC will shine with this game, but is it the title that we're all hoping for and praying to be the game of the year?
Well, according to Game Informer, The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt is "everything (they) wanted it to be and more!" From its gameplay to its visuals, this title seems to have everything we could need. But what exactly has been praised so far before an official review can be released before the game's official release date on May 19th?
The Witcher 3 - Consensus Before a Review
From the outset, we'd like to see improvements upon The Witcher 2 in CD Projekt RED's next venture into this dark, fantasy world. The Witcher has never exactly been the most accessible game series, and it has received a fair amount of criticism for this and the implementation of a lengthy tutorial for The Witcher 2.
Thankfully, these issues have been omitted. This title is appealing to a lot of gamers, even those who've never played a Witcher title before and giving them an engaging entry point into this world. The initial 3 hours are a welcoming return to this land, one that quickly allows you to get to grips with the controls and then sets you off on your path to slaying monsters.
The opening hours of The Witcher 3 already present the player with some tough choices. Game Informer claimed that they made a decision that they already regretted in the opening. Looks like The Witcher aims to continue as the series began.
Combat was likened to the second instalment, though it featured noticeable improvements in terms of fluidity. And of course, we know have a crossbow that can take down those pesky flying creatures. Once knocked to the ground, Geralt can deliver a punishing stabbing blow. But he's not the only character with such abilities.
Ciri is our new playable character, the first we've seen in the series. They got a feel for what it was like to play as The Witcher 3's Ciri, a character that we saw introduced in that fantastic trailer that featured the glorious voice talents of Charles Dance. While the game does see Geralt rush to her aid, we also see that Ciri can certainly hold her own in battle, with some great fighting abilities of her own to unveil!
All in all, they were wildly impressed by how The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt was progressing before its release date. The world is enormous and beautiful, filled with monsters and tough decisions and combat system that allows even a new Witcher fan to join the Hunt! Are you excited for this game?
