So finally we've gotten word back on what's going on with the new Halloween movie and what direction we can expect it to go in; sort of..
Revealed by multiple websites including Bloody Disgusting, reports are saying that the new Halloween movie won't be another remake or reboot, nor a sequel to Rob Zombies last two entry's, but instead a ''recalibration''.
Now what they mean by that I'm not sure. One definition of the word calibrate is ''to carefully assess, set, or adjust''. So putting the ''re'' in front of ''calibrate'' basically means they plan on setting, assessing, and adjusting the franchise once again. Which in my mind sounds a lot like another reboot. But since they've already confirmed that isn't what it will be, I guess we'll just have to wait for more information regarding this mysterious Halloween movie for more info.
What IS set in stone are the writers for the new movie. Which is Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. Both of whom have movies like The Collector, Pacific Rim, and even the last four Saw movies under their belts so far.
And regarding Patrick and Marcus writing the new movie for this legendary franchise, I really don't think it's a bad thing at all. In fact I'm excited to see what they'll bring to the franchise. Great kills no doubt will be inevitable (i.e, The Collector, The Collection, and the last four Saw flicks).
So I guess we can stop calling this one Halloween 3-D, or Halloween 3. Being it won't be going in either direction. At least not yet of course..
In other horror movie related news, you can expect a brand new Poltergeist film due out in July, a new Friday the 13th television show and film out in the next two years or so, another Child's Play sequel, a Hellraiser reboot, a Leatherface prequel, and a Scream television show.
