In a world where Marvel and DC are competing for our attention, it seems like Fox and the X-Men franchise has been flying under the radar. This film is shrouded in mystery, and all we really know about this movie is the villain and the cast. Well, those of us who were wondering whether Patrick Stewart's Professor X and Ian McKellen's Magneto will be returning for the film, it seems like we have an answer.
In a recent interview with Oregon Live , even though Patrick Stewart said he was "very unlikely" to return as Professor X in [X-Men: Apocalypse](movie:1194267), he did shed some light on Ian McKellen's Magneto. He said:
“But Magneto, Ian McKellen, is certainly going to be in it.”
This is interesting since we know that this film will be taking place in the 80's, and I doubt they will introduce time travel for the second film in a row. It will be interesting to see how they implement McKellen's Magneto into the story.
Stewart also shed some light on the future Wolverine stand alone movie, and how HE MAY BE APPEARING IN IT! Patrick Stewart went on to say:
“And what I’m very excited about is that we have been talking about a Wolverine movie, which would team Hugh Jackman and myself together. Wolverine and Professor Xavier. That would be a very different sort of “X-Men” from the four movies that I’ve already done.”
Wow... a pairing with Jackman's Wolverine sounds perfect, and every scene they have had together in the past has been some of the best moment of the series. My anticipation for the future Wolverine film just sky rocketed after hearing this.
