Show me someone who isn't binge watching Friends on Netflix right now and I'll show you a liar. Okay, that might be a slight exaggeration, but it certainly seems like everyone's doing it. If all the cool kids are doing it, you better believe that I am too.
Since Friends joined Netflix at the beginning of the year, fans have been better than ever at picking up on little details here and there throughout the series. Some of these might be a bit older, but they're still fun facts nonetheless.
1) "The One With the Air Force One Cameo"
This has got to be one of the best little easter eggs in television history. It's really a testament to the crafty writers and casting directors behind Friends. Even so, he might not have been lying. I've heard a lot of actors won't watch their own performances.
2) "The Ones With the Reserved Tables"
Buzzfeed recently alerted us to a fact that answered one of Friends' greatest mysteries. How the heck did the gang have that couch and table to themselves all the time? Well, pretty simple, it was reserved.
Makes sense, but now that I know that it seems pretty rude of them to steal the best seats in Central Perk for nearly a decade.
3) "The One With the Producer's Director Credit"
A. Chase credited for Phoebe's "Smelly Cat" video likely stands for Adam Chase who was the co-producer for Friends at the time (later to become the executive producer for the show). From his IMDb page it looks like "Smelly Cat" video is Adam's only directing credit.
4) "The One With the Potato in the Pastry Case"
To be fair, most of these episodes were filmed before people were really taking the time to rewind and re-watch for this kind of detail, but still...why?
5) "The Ones With Two Kate Millers"
In Season 3 Joey had a co-star for his play named Kate Miller. At Ross' paleontology conference in Barbados, they steal name tags to crash the pharmaceutical conference next door. The tag Rachel steals is for "Kate Miller."
So did Kate continue her acting career or did she call it quits and join a Pharmaceutical company? Guess we'll never know.
6) "The One With the Shockingly Accurate Subtitles"
Thank you to the lovely people who had to transcribe the Friends episodes for subtitles who snuck in these hilarious jabs at Janice.
Someone once asked me if I thought Janice would be just as annoying if she had a different voice, and I actually don't know the answer to that.
7) "The Ones With the Central Perk Uniforms"
About a month ago Bustle pointed out this fact that I had never noticed. While Rachel was working at Central Perk, it looks to be that she's wearing a uniform! I let out an audible "Whaaaa?" when I finally noticed that each of the servers in the first season are similarly wearing denim tops and black bottoms. Joey didn't wear the uniform by the time he was employed at C.P., but times may have changed by then.
Who knew Gunther had such a strict dress code? And who owns that many denim shirts?!
For some of you these all might be old news, but for others I imagine it's like...
