In a move reminiscent of Gwyneth Paltrow's 'conscious uncoupling,' the team behind the new Halloween reboot has branded the upcoming Michael Myers movie as a 'recalibration,' rather than a remake.
Hmmm. Well, fancy pretentious names aside, this new reboot / remake / recalibration has gained a pretty interesting new boon - the writing duo from Saw IV, V, VI and VII will write the screenplay.
This is very, very good news for those who are into the GORE aspect of the franchise - and, let's face it, who isn't - because Saw VII had some of the greatest deaths in the series...
However, much of the direction of the movie will hinge on who directs - and there's no news on that front yet. My Bloody Valentine 3D's Patrick Lussier was in the pipeline, but has since been AWOL.
A 'recalibration' also hints that maybe Rob Zombie - who directed the last Halloween movie in 2009 - could still be involved, but I don't see Zombie letting some other guys write his script for him... so that leaves us with no director. Yet.
Still, if the team behind the new Halloween movie keeps anything from Zombie's Halloween, I hope it's the raw, unflinching brutality...
So, horror heads, there'll be more news as we get it, but until then - what do you think of the Saw VII writers getting their grabby hands on a new Halloween movie?
