It's that time of year again. The Golden Globes and the BAFTAs seem long ago, but the wait until the Academy Awards seems even longer.

We've had another stunning year in cinema and each award is being aggressively contested by a number of strong nominees. Best Director? Richard Linklater for Boyhood? Alejandro González Iñárritu for Birdman? There are certainly no shoe-ins this time around.

But for even the most dedicated cinephile, it's incredible hard to keep on top of exactly who and what have been nominated, never mind why they were nominated.

Luckily, Cineplex Movies are on hand to clear things up. They've produced an awesome two minute, 46 second long video that puts together a kind of "highlights reel" featuring almost every amazing nominee.

Soundtracked to a beautiful Chopin composition, the montage packs a big emotional punch, and is yet another reminder of what a great year it's been in Hollywood.

Take a look at the video below.

Pretty awesome, huh?

Films nominated for the best picture award:

American Sniper” - Clint Eastwood

Birdman” - Alejandro G. Iñárritu

Boyhood” - Richard Linklater

The Grand Budapest Hotel” - Wes Anderson

The Imitation Game” - Morten Tyldum

Selma” - Ava DuVernay

The Theory of Everything” - James Marsh

Whiplash” - Damien Chazelle
