Horror remakes. Some love them, some hate them. I fall somewhere in the middle of those. Even if a film is perfect on its own, I still find it fun to see it retold in a remake. A lot of the time the remake sucks but every now and then you get one that is actually just as good as the original. I was going to make this a top 5 list but I just couldn't decide which I wanted to see more. So here (in no particular order) are 5 films I would like to see remade

Freaks (1932)

Some people consider this a horror film, others don't. Either way, this Tod Browning film would be great to see remade. This film used real life circus performers as the cast. A lot of the characters from American Horror Story: Freak Show were based on them. I feel this film could use a much more graphic and bloody remake. Of course, now days you could never get away with using real deformed people as the cast but modern day effects makeup solves that problem. Anyway, the next part is a spoiler so if you haven't seen this film and wish to do so, just skip to the next one.

So, in Freaks this character Hans, who is a midget, falls for this women who is only after his money, and looks down on all of the freaks. So in order to get back at her, the freaks mutilate her and make her one of them. The only problem I have with this film is that you don't actually get to see her being mutilated, you just get to see what she looks like afterward. That's why I feel this should be remade. With modern day effects it would be a beautiful gore filled scene.

Suspiria (1977)

This film was actually set up for a remake in 2012 but was cancelled due to money issues. Isabelle Fuhrman, shown in the above photo, was set to play the lead role of Suzy Bannion. Now the original for this film is perfect as it is but for some reason I would still love to see this remade mainly because I have these visions of certain scenes that would look awesome on screen. Whoever remade it would have to get it just right though. All of the music and visuals go together perfectly in this film, so they would have to get that right while still bringing something new to the film.

The basic plot of this film is, Suzy Bannion goes from America to Germany to join a fancy ballet academy. She slowly starts to realize that something more sinister is going on there. After learning the schools history with witchcraft she decides to investigate.

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari

This 1920 German silent horror film is a classic. The main reason I would like to see this remade is because adding dialogue would really bring something new to the film. The sets in this film are very otherworldly and look almost Dr. Seuss like. I would love to see this set rebuilt completely. I'm not sure if color would work so well in it however. The black and white just adds a great feel to the whole film.

The basic plot is, at a fair Dr. Caligari sets up a tent to show Cesare the 23 year-old Somnabulist who has slept for 23 years that can predict the future. He predicts a mans death and the man soon shows up dead. The man's friend is determined to find out what happened to him.

A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors

The odds of this one actually happening are very low. Usually if a remake is made it is of the first film in a series, like the 2010 remake of the first A Nightmare On Elm Street. This is my second favorite film in the series. It had great death scenes like the puppet death scene shown below...

The basic plot is, a group of teens in a mental hospital all share the same nightmares of this badly burned man with razors on his fingers trying to kill them. The kids soon realize that if this man kills them in their dreams, they die for real. So they learn how to take control of their dreams in order to fight back.

A Clockwork Orange (1971)

This one isn't necessarily a horror film. Some people have refered to it as one but I don't necessarily agree. Even so, I put it in this list because it is one of my favorite films of all time. Malcolm McDowell, who you might know from the Rob Zombie Halloween remakes, plays the lead role Alex. An actor I think would be great for this role is American Horror Story star Evan Peters. As long as he can fake a good English accent. The photo below shows Evan Peters (left) and Malcolm McDowell (right).

The basic plot for this film is, Alex DeLarge is a young teenage boy that commits acts of ultraviolence and rape and eventually gets caught and jailed. While in jail he volunteers for an experimental aversion therapy made by the government to solve the growing crime problem.

So that's my list. Let me know what you think below. By the way if you get the joke with the picture below; you are awesome!
