So we have all been there, it's late at night we are bored just mindlessly browsing the web looking for something to do. Then a thought comes into mind, I want to see something really messed up. I think we have all been there and if not, then I feel very awkward right now. But for those who do want to see something messed up, here is my guide to disturbing films. I will begin from beginner level which is going to be based on movies that are crazy, but won't scar you and I will work my way up to expert level. Which are the movies that will hunt you mind, so let's dig in.
So let's start with something small for those who want to get into the disturbing movie world, but don't want to get too crazy. First off we have "A clockwork orange". One of my all time favorite movies by one of my favorite directors Stanley Kubrick. In this film, we follow Alex played by Malcolm McDowell and his "droogs" as they terrorize the streets of future London. Many people find this movie disturbing because of its psychological factor and of course, raping while singing "I'm singing in the rain." yup, crazy.
In second place we have "Shivers", a movie about a parasite that gets transmitted sexualy and turns people into zombies. There is tons of sex involved and controversy, since the movie was made with tax money the Canadian media was outraged about this and gave the movie hell. But if you're looking for something messed up, then what better than a worm like parasite transmitted sexualy and turns you into zombies?
In third and last place in my beginners list is "the human centipede"! I'm sure most of you have already seen this movie, it kinda got made a big deal on its release. Even "South Park" made a parody out of it, I saw it and to be honest it didn't gross me out. Maybe it's because I had seen worse at the time, but it was all pretty normal for me. None the less "The human centipede" is a great way to start getting into disturbing movies, and it won't scar you that much, just watch the "South Park" parody of it and you will laugh next time you see it.
So now things are going to get juicy and very messed up, so I find it only fair to warn you. If you search for this movie you'd better be prepared because this can stay with you for a while. So first on our list is "a Serbian film".
Now this movie is really messed up, even the plot on paper is crazy on film is just messed up! Here you have a retired porn star who is having a hard time supporting his family, so he gets called up to make just one last movie and he will get paid big time. He has no idea what he signed up for, they make him do crazy things and they inject him with bull testosterone, so yeah you can kinda get the picture now. If not then just look at the picture I posted, you'll get the idea.
Second in the list is "Aftermath", a 30 minute short film about a mortician working on some bodies and he does....stuff to them. This movie is not for the weak of stomach or the faint of heart. You will be disturbed, deeply.
And third, we have the controversial classic "Cannibal Holocaust". This movie is very controversial because there are death scenes of animals that are real. When it screen in 1980 in Milan the court took the movie off screens and charged the director of murder and was released when the actors went to court to testify.
Here it is, the moment you've all been waiting for. You may or may not go and search for this film, but I know you were crazy to see which are the most messed up films in my opinion. These movies that I will show you now are the most disturbing films I have seen so far. Granted that there are a lot more films out there that may be worse than this. But until I see them these are my top three expert level disturbing films.
First off we have "Salò", or "120 Days Of Sodom", now this film is just down right filthy. Seriously, if you don't have a strong stomach then stay as far away from this film. It's so horrid and so wrong it is banned everywhere and was only released in England in 2000. The director was killed the same night it about to premiere for the first time.
Second, we have "Nekromantik", though not as bad as "120 days of Sodom" it's still pretty sick. It's a german drama of a woman who liked to have sex with dead people. Yup, that's pretty fucked up and what's really messed up is that her partner is into it too. Again I say, if you don't think you can stand the sight of a woman having sex with a rotting corpse then stay away from this film.
And third but not least we have "Flowers Of Flesh And Blood". This Japanese snuffed film is very disturbing and very convincing, it looks so real that even Charlie Sheen him self called the FBI so they could investigate this film cause he was convinced it was real! It's part two of the seven-strong Guinea Pig series from Japan and it's about a man dressed up as a samurai and cuts up a woman, adding her pieces to his collection. Very crazy stuff.
If you feel you can still take on another scaring image in your brain feel free to look up "Begotten". This movie touches on a lot of controversial themes and may be very offensive to some people, it is filmed in black and white and its music free with some very heavy dialogue. There are some very strong scenes here, discretion is advised.
Well, that wraps up this guide, remember these are my pics and what I consider the right way to get into the disturbing film genre. If you have a different opinion or a different line up please post it in the comment section below. Tell me which movie has scared you if any or maybe you can recommend a new disturbing movie to me, I'm always happy to answer and read your posts. Until next time fellow readers, have a good one.
