Hey Marvel fans! I want to know who everyone thinks is the most powerful, strongest, smartest, fastest or just the coolest Marvel character is according to the people that matter: the fans.
In order to do that, I have a very different idea. You may have figured out by now, if you read my Marvel Universe NFL Mock Draft, that aside from comics I also really like sports. That being said, we have one of the most popular sporting events coming up next month. That’s right, March Madness.
So I am going to put a little spin on the typical 64 (66...68...whatever it is this year) team tournament. I am going to create a bracket that includes 64 of the best Marvel characters. Then, as we draw closer to the actual tournament, I will post sections of the bracket for everyone to vote on, one matchup at a time. The winner of each matchup will be determined by your votes and will move on in the bracket.
So here’s what I want right now. Give me your opinions on who should be in and who should be out. Now, obviously, the big names like Iron-Man, Spider-Man and Captain America are going to be in there. So if you’re trying to persuade me to put someone in, make it a lesser known character. Or, you can go the opposite way and try to convince me why one of the big names should not be in. This bracket will include both heroes and villains so go ahead and pick your favorites.
Another thing thats up for debate, is the seeding. Who should the 1 seeds be? Who should just barely get in with a 16?
One thing, I’m not going to include the unstoppable, over-powered characters. So no Galactus, no Thanos, no Adam Warlock, Beyonder or One Above All. We’re more or less sticking to feet on the ground hand-to-hand combat kind of characters, not floating through space looking for the next planet to eat kind of characters.
For those of you who are not familiar with March Madness here is a look at the bracket.
Characters will be ranked from 1-16, and placed into four different sections of the bracket. This means that there will be four 1 seeds, four 2 seeds, etc. In each section, the 1 seed will take on the 16 and the winner will move on to face the winner of the 8 vs the 9. I’m sure you can figure out the rest.
One last thing. I’ve done this before, with a small group of friends as the voters. I know what needs to be done to avoid making mistakes. For example, the Phoenix will not be in this one. We should have just penciled her in as the winner before we even started.
So there you go, I think I covered everything. Let me know who should be in and who should be out. If you have any other questions as to how this will work, I’ll be active in the comments as well.
Now let’s find out who the champion is!
