When DC announced their film slate through 2020, it was rumored and feared that the Shazam film would not be connected to the overall Cinematic Universe with Superman, Batman and the rest of the crew. Well, Fear not my friends, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson recently laid to rest those rumors, while also giving us insight into his Black Adam character, which will be on display in the 'Shazam' film in 2019.

In an interview with Total Film (via Games Radar) Johnson had this to say:

I think Black Adam is going to grow into becoming an anti-hero. It’s all written within the spirit of respecting and paying homage to the comics. As we know, Black Adam started out as a slave. When he’s given the powers, he utilized them. Then in the wake of his powers, tragedy strikes, which turns his sentiment and tone in terms of psychology

Anti-hero? Does that mean a future team-up with The Justice League is possible? Well. regarding the interconnected DC universe, Johnson went on to say:

It was all agreed that the worlds are all interconnected… One day you will see Black Adam go at it with Superman or Batman or any of the DC characters. But that said, there’s a great independence to Black Adam from the DC world, allowing us to inject, not only viciousness, but also winking humor.

Wow... I think I speak for everybody when I say I WANT TO SEE BLACK ADAM THROWDOWN WITH SUPERMAN! Could you just imagine Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam and Henry Cavill's Superman throwing down? If you thought Superman's fight with Zod was insane, this would blow that out of the water.

Also knowing that everything is interconnected, does that mean we could possibly introduced to Black Adam in a film coming out before Shazam, setting up his character? Possibly in a Justice League movie? We'll see, but this news lays to rest any of the doubts we had about the inter-connectivity of the universe.

I cannot wait to see Dwayne Johnson in action... BUT WE HAVE TO WAIT FOUR YEARS! Hopefully, it will be worth the wait.

Darren Lemke (Jack the Giant Slayer) is currently penning the script, and the film will be release April 5, 2019. Shazam tells the story of teenager Billy Batson, who transforms into the superhero when he says the word 'Shazam!'
