While at Wizard World Madison last week, The Crow creator James O’Barr expressed who he would like to see in the role of Eric Draven for the upcoming film...
... Sam Witwer.
O’Barr also addressed the departure of Luke Evans, who was originally cast in the role but his contract expired before filming began and since signing on has gone on to star in big budget movies such as The Hobbit, Fast & Furious, and Dracula Untold and could no longer be afforded when time came to resign.
According to O’Barr, Witwer and himself have been in contact about the role, which will be Witwer's first lead role in a movie.
Witwer starred in four seasons of the US remake of Being Human, Smallville and Battlestar Galactica, had a small role in The Mist as well as voice work in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and as Starkiller in The Force Unleashed games.
Witwer is also the lead singer of The Crashtones, who have released the album 'Colorful Of The Stereo' with another on the way.
