Ian Somerhalder has always managed to stay humble and remember his beginnings, so it's only natural that he took the time to mark the passing of the man who gave him his first big break into television.

Joe Voci, who cast Ian in his breakthrough show Young Americans, passed away on Monday after a long battle with brain cancer. He was 51-years-old.

The death clearly affected Somerhalder deeply as he broadcast an emotional Tweet proclaiming his love for Voici.

Along with Young Americans, the Tv executive worked on The Wonder Years, The Nanny and Murphy Brown.
