The next 5 years of comic book movies have just been slightly adjusted because Spiderman has joined the MCU. There are still so many movies coming out over the next few years that will have me spending all my time and money at the theaters. With all these options there are some I am a little more excited for than others, so here are the top 10 superhero movies I am the most excited about.
10) Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel
Ok so I know putting two movies in the very first slot is kind of cheating but both of these films will be huge. Both films finally put a woman as the main character and I think that will be awesome to see. Gal Gadot looks like a perfect fit as Wonder Woman, and I am sure Marvel will not disappoint with whoever they pick as Captain Marvel. Plus I think both of these characters will play a huge role on their respective teams in future movies. I hope one of these set the platform to allow a Black Widow movie as well
Spiderman is finally part of the MCU! With this of course I mean Kevin Feige will be watching over production and it allows him to finally be a live action Avenger. Spiderman has been in a decline when it comes to the movies recently mostly due to being rushed and overwhelming. I am interested to see how they use him in the MCU. I am also interested to see how much of an effect being a part of Marvel will help Sony sell Spiderman's new movie and the rest of their Spidey related movies (like Sinister Six)
8) Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice
Now I am a huge Batman fan but I am a little worried if Ben Affleck can pull off the Caped Crusader. Not to mention DC movies are worrying me a little trying to be overly serious and I was one of the people not impressed by Man of Steel (sorry I just thought it was long and boring). I do have hopes for this movie though! I know this is a big even that is loved in the comics and Henry Cavill definitely pulls off Superman very well. Plus with this setting up the Justice League and giving the Avengers some good competition I think it will be well worth watching.
Honestly who isn't super excited for this movie to come out?!?!?! The Merc with a Mouth is finally getting to make his real big screen debut (yes I am trying to forget his part in X-Men Origins too). Being played by Ryan Reynolds who I think is perfect for the role, especially after seeing the test footage that got leaked. Although it is supposed to be PG-13, I still think they will be able to properly pull off a Deadpool movie and I hope to see him in many more after it.
6) Guardians of the Galaxy 2
With the huge surprise success of the first Guardians of the Galaxy and the fact that I still can't stop jamming out to the Awesome Mix Vol.1 I am more than excited to see the sequel. Director James Gunn has stated he will be taking a risk with the second film and completely making the story up without following any comic arc, but I have faith in him. The first movie has set a high standard for the second one that I believe can be achieved. Honestly though this team up was awesome and has great casting so that alone is worth seeing.
5) Suicide Squad
Another movie that I think has an awesome cast and is destined to be awesome is the Suicide Squad. This is one of my favorite comic book teams and I am sure they will be able to pull it off great. My biggest concern is Jared Leto's Joker, not that he is not good enough to play the Joker but because Heath Ledger's iconic portrayal is still fresh in fans brains setting an extremely high standard. I think he and every other member of this team will be able to pull it off and we are set for one very exciting movie.
4) Captain America: Civil War
One of my favorite comic books brought to life on the big screen, how can I not be excited? I am interested to see how they bring this amazing comic into the movie world. I am not sure what they are going to do with Black Panther either now with Spiderman able to fulfill the role he did in the comics. I am also interested to see how all the other supporting characters are used like the Falcon, but I have faith they will find a way to make them all work out. Plus RDJ and Chris Evans going at each other like this will be very fun to watch and look almost like Tony Stark and Steve Rodgers in the comics.
This movie has the most personal biased for me. The Rajin Cajun has been my favorite comic book character since I was a young child! I loved seeing Gambit in the 90s X-Men cartoon. I was a little worried about Channing Tatum playing Remy but the more I think about it and see fan art like this I can definitely see the possibility of him pulling it off. Plus Gambit is a lady's man and Tatum is Hollywood's lady's man so it works out. I can't wait to see his first appearance in X-Men: Apocalypse and then watch the full stand alone film, I have been waiting for Gambit to join the live action X-Men for so many years.
2) X-Men: Apocalypse
My personal favorite superhero team, the X-Men! I have loved the X-Men movies and after seeing Days of Future Past, I am more than excited to see Apocalypse. The X-Men's biggest and toughest foe in live action excitement. Not to mention the practical reboot that will be happening during this movie as we see the young version of well known mutants. I think this is set to be the Avengers toughest competition.
1) Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and 2
Is there really any movie event bigger than this one? By the time Part 1 is released this movie will have 10 years of build up set to be released on fans. We will hopefully get to see all of the MCU brought together to see them face off against Thanos and we will see Josh Brolin truly portray the Mad Titan. All the Infinity Stones will be revealed by these two movies and all out war will be fought. It doesn't get much bigger than this movie right now, and to think this is only the end of phase 3.
These movie picks are of course all in my own opinion and what I can't wait to see. Let me know what y'all think is your most anticipated movie(s).
