Now, this probably isn't really going to be considered news to veteran Game of Thrones enthusiasts, but it turns out season 5 of the popular HBO fantasy television series will contain some serious shocks.
Over the last 4 seasons of Game of Thrones, we have seen some truly shocking episodes, with main characters being unceremoniously dispatched without so much as a heart-felt dying soliloquy. Indeed, the HBO show is known for turning the entire tone of the show on a dime, often delivering devastating blows where they were least expected - the infamous Red Wedding being a prime example.
Now Sansa actress, Sophie Turner, has told the Huffington Post that the events of season 5 could rival some of the most shocking moments that we've seen so far:
There’s some massive moments, perhaps even more shocking than the Red Wedding type of thing. There’s like a lot going on this season. There’s also, you know, a lot of blood, a lot of death. And a lot of people kind of come far. And there are a few familiar faces around as well.
The end of season 4 saw a lot of our main characters heading to new, unknown locations, while the entire Seven Kingdoms seems to be as tumultuous as ever. Furthermore, several characters, such as Sansa, have almost caught up with their storylines in the original books. With this in mind, there might be some shocking moments for readers of the books and viewers of the TV show alike.
Game of Thrones Season 5 premieres on April 12.
