For everyone who is a fan of superheros and/or comics, one thing gets asked. Marvel or DC? Most people have already chosen a side ( I am team Marvel, although I do like some things from DC ^_^), While others are on the fence, and it all depends on what the companies release that year. In 2014, Marvel pretty much blew the DC world away, with releasing Captain America 2, Agents of SHIELD, and having a press release to show their movie lineup for the next few years. DC has also released The Flash, Gotham, and Constantine (Which was supposedly a flub). But The internet has been buzzing mostly around Marvel last year, even though DC was in the spotlight a few times. So who is going to win this year? Well lets look at what's happening?
Marvel has had us geeks fan girling by a certain character joining the Avengers....SPIDERMAN! Marvel and Sony have made a deal to include Spiderman in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We are all excited, as they have changed their movie lineup this year just to include the webslinger. Rumors are pointing toward having Spiderman in the new Captain America: Civil War, to introduce him before his own movie the next year.
Marvel Heroes 2015 is an online MMO game where you can play as your favorite superheros as you fight crimes in the city. Although not as big as their other announcements, it is important as it expands our heroes across all platforms.
With Avengers: Age of Ultron coming out in May, this looks like a pretty big year in the Marvel World. Being said to set up Captain America, fans are buzzing about the edition of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. We are all excited to see our favorite team join back together before they split apart for Civil War. Another big thing in the movie : The Hulkbuster Armor. Tony created the Hulkbuster to be able to take on the Hulk. Can he? Marvel is also releasing Ant Man and Fantastic Four this year, also with the release of Daredevil on Netflix. Deadpool is also stirring up fans when Ryan Reynolds took a pic in his mask, teasing the movie.
It doesn't really look like DC is releasing any movies this year. The next movie coming from them is Batman VS. Superman in 2016, although I do hope to see a trailer for the movie sometime this year. After that, Suicide Squad will take the lead. TV wise, everyone is still talking about the Reverse Flash on the Flash, and trying to renew Constantine for a second season.
iZombie is loosely based on the DC Comics, about it, a girl that is part zombie, and will be released in March. There is not much press on it as of yet, but will hopefully pick up.They also announced a Supergirl show, but the release date is TBA.
Toy wise, DC is doing pretty well. They plan on releasing Arrow and The Flash action figures this year, and has excited fans. Also being released, various new Batman action figures and DC Super Pet Plushes (so cute!)
Both Marvel and DC have announced new comics this year, and seem both equal in that department. Altogether though (I swear this isn't biased) marvel has much more going on this year then DC AS OF NOW. DC could totally announce more items and take the lead. But for mow, my prediction is leaning toward Marvel.
