Margo Martindale will return to The Americans in Season 3.
Martindale, who was only a recurring character in the first two seasons, will return to her role as Claudia, the Jennings’ ex-KGB supervisor, who was last seen in the Season 2 finale when she told Elizabeth and Philip that their daughter is being eyed to become a second-generation spy.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled and grateful for Margo’s return as Claudia in the third season. It was an immense joy to have her in our first two seasons, so to work with her again is a wonderful stroke of good fortune. And all we had to do was ask nicely! And promise no one would punch her in the face again!”
says Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields, executive producers.
Martindale was recently seen in a lead role on the CBS comedy The Millers, which was the reason for her recurring status and absence on The Americans, but now that the comedy has been cancelled, it may mean there could be a possibility of seeing her more frequently in the fourth season, should the show get one.
Martindale (who was the only reason I didn't turn off August: Osage County) earned herself two Emmy Award nominations for her appearance on the series.
With a career on both the big and small screen, Martindale has also starred in Justified, Suits, Million Dollar Baby and Paris, je t'aime (Paris, I Love You), which was my introduction to Margo Martindale.
