The Suicide Squad has a stacked cast with Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto and Viola Davis all signed on. However, it has been a roller coaster ride when it comes to finding someone to replace Hardy, who was originally signed on for Flag. After all of the rumors and the potential castings, we finally have someone who is in talks to play the character.
According to Latino Review, Joel Kinnaman, who starred in the Robocop reboot, is in early talks to replace Hardy and take on Flag. It has been rumored that a replacement would be found by early next week, it looks like Kinnaman might be our replacement.
Kinnaman definitely looks the part, but I don't know if I see him being an authoritarian leader like Flag is supposed to be. I don't think they need a big name for the role, especially since A listers have already filled out the cast, and Kinnaman could be a great addition. David Ayer is great with characters and bringing out great performances from his actors, so I have faith in Ayer and if this casting deal gets done I have no problems with it.
The Suicide Squad follows a group of super villains who go on suicide missions for the government, and in return, if they survive, they get reduced prison sentences.
The film is set to star Will Smith as Deadshot, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delavigne as Enchantress, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto as The Joker and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller. It will be directed by David Ayer, and is set to be released on August 5th, 2016.
