Throughout the past few decades we've seen some of the greatest superheroes make the jump from comic books to the big screen and television. Superman, Iron Man, Batman, the list goes on. We've also seen some of the greatest actors and actresses portray these diverse and complicated characters. Nowadays it seems every major actor out there has been a superhero at one point or another.

Some actors are clearly destined to play a superhero. Robert Downey Jr basically is Tony Stark A.K.A. Iron Man. Hugh Jackman has redefined the character of Wolverine on the big screen. And JK Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson is arguably the greatest casting decision for a comic book character ever.

Every once in a while an actor makes it big and lands a superhero role. His/her time comes and goes, and the character they played gets passed on to another actor. However, we know a superhero when we see one! Some actors are simply born to be rocking spandex and capes! Lets take a minute to recall a few actors who’ve, for better or for worse, played more than one super-character!

Superman -> The Atom

In 2006, Brandon Routh landed a role that launched his career to new heights. Superman! The biggest superhero of them all! While expectations were high for Superman Returns, it didn’t do as well as people had hoped. Brandon Routh played the character well, but its hard to personify the best and greatest hero EVER!

Skip ahead 8 years…thats right, 8 years! Arrow Season 3 is in full swing! Slowly growing in popularity, Arrow is one of the top superhero TV shows out right now! Rather than "Superman Returns", lets call this “Brandon Routh Returns”, but this time as a different DC character.

While only known as Ray Palmer thus far, Arrow has slowly been panning out the idea of Routh dawning a futuristic robotic exosuit and becoming a new superhero for the show, The Atom. We only have sneak peaks so far, but heres a look at Routh in the A.T.O.M. suit.

Ghost Rider -> Big Daddy -> Ghost Rider

Nicolas Cage has always played some odd characters, but his most notable comic book roles are definitely Ghost Rider and Big Daddy (Kick-Ass). Cage first played Johnny Blaze in 2007 in the first of the Ghost Rider films. Moviegoers have mixed feelings about this film. Some liked it, some hated it. The best parts are when Ghost Rider's skull head fires up and the biker of vengeance does his thing, but outside of those parts the rest of the movie fell a little short.

After Ghost Rider, Cage went on to play Big Daddy in 2010's Kick-Ass. Most moviegoers liked this film a lot and Cage really stood out as Big Daddy. Big Daddy comes off as a strange guy, but Nick Cage’s quirky performance kept you wanting to see more of the character.

Then in 2011, Cage reprised his role as Ghost Rider in Ghost Rider 2: Spirit of Vengeance. Lets not sugarcoat it, this movie was very bad. Nearly everything about this movie was forgettable. Whether you remember it or not, it happened.

Human Torch -> Captain America

In 2005, we were reintroduced to the Fantastic Four in a big way. At that point, Marvel characters in movies were still not really happening, so anything hitting the big screen was a win in my book! I just wanted to see it happen!

Though the movie itself wasn't that great, it was passable and fun! Evans stole the show a bit being the bad boy celebrity who reveals how he has super powers, and just does all the awesome stuff we'd all want to do if we had the same powers.

He even reprised the role 2 years later in Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer. The film was equally passable and entertaining, and Chris Evans lit up the screen yet again. His fiery performance really stood out!

Clearly he was destined to become a superhero! He even went on to play characters in Push, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, and The Losers, all comic book movies. It wasn't until 2011 that Captain America was introduced to Marvel's new Cinematic Universe that we saw Chris Evans in his true prime!

Marvel is renowned for their casting choices, and they made no mistake when pursuing Chris Evans for the role of Captain America. His performance in the MCU movies is phenomenal, and the fans absolutely cant get enough. He has reprised the role of Captain America multiple times in Marvels massive collected universe, and wit every new appearance, the audience wants to see more!

Having starred in Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier already, fans love Chris Evans as Cap! Avengers 2: Age of Ultron and Captain America 3: Civil War are some of the most highly anticipated movies being made right now!

That's all for now folks! Make sure to check back soon for more actors who've play more than one superhero! Thanks for reading!
