The ultimate in arena deathmatch! Homage to the Unreal Tournament series. Frag like it's 1999: TOXIKK plays as if today's military shooters never existed. This may take the FPS world by storm! Halo 5 Arenas, Be Warned!
Toxikk is an upcoming first-person shooter video game by Hanover, Germany-based software developer Reakktor. The game combines the simple and intuitive mechanics of old-school FPS giants with a fresh setting, slick graphics and our vision to carefully evolve the genre with some new ideas elaborated with Arena-FPS enthusiasts.
Designed as a spiritual successor to the fast paced arena shooters of the late 90s and early 2ks, there is no levelling, no skill-trees, no perks, no cover systems, no classes, no configurable weapons and no iron sight aiming.
Instead you get fast and precise movement (with deeply configurable mouse controls), double jumps, dodge jumps, booster pick-ups, nine iconic WEAPONS to be carried around simultaneously, secondary fire modes for every weapon, vehicular game modes, jump pads, health-packs, lots of vertical gameplay, optional mutators (incl. instagib) and everything else that made these kind of games so addictive. And if you want to practice your skills offline, TOXIKK also features a configurable BOT MODE.
After each death, you respawn with a melee weapon and a basic pistol. All other weapons are to be picked up while you play. Character customization is of cosmetic nature only.
However, unlike the shooter giants from the past, TOXIKK features an XP and a bounty system. The XP system and its associated ranks are used for reputation purposes, for our match-making algorithms and to unlock new skins, but they do NOT change the stats or the abilities of your character. Your rank will show other players how experienced and skilled YOU are (rather than showing the experience level of your game character).
REAKKTOR Studios state that they believe that "classic Arena-FPS" and "Free-to-Play" (F2P) don't go well together. A true arena FPS requires all player characters to have equal stats and the availability of all weapons to everyone. Always! The skill of a player should be the only deciding factor about victory or defeat. Allowing players to buy different (i.e. better) weapons or to permanently boost their stats does totally contradict the idea of classic arena FPS gaming in our opinion. What do you think?
CLASSIC MAPS offer very fast-paced gameplay in small to medium-sized maps for up to 8 players, while MASSIVE MAPS feature more strategic gameplay in bigger environments for up to 16 players. Vehicles (gliders, attack-bombers, hoverbikes and other ground vehicles) are exclusively available in Massive Maps.
In 2139, archaeologists discovered a strangely sculpted crystal skull in an ancient temple installation near the Sambor Prei region, deep in the Cambodian Jungle. The artifact consists entirely of solid EDEN and is the biggest accumulation of EDEN particles known to date. Its origin and current location are unknown.
After more finds of solid EDEN, the whole site became a treasure hunters' paradise until DRAYOS and EXOCOM started a battle for dominance in that area.
Completely surrounded by the exclusive Bisomo business quarter, the Hiata slums are one of Hong Kong's poorest districts. When EXOCOM tried to exile its inhabitants to make space for their new Asia Operations Headquarters, DRAYOS intervened and battle is now raging to gain control over the once meaningless, ruinous buildings of Hiata.
Two mountains, two mines: It didn't take long for EXOCOM and DRAYOS to set up massive mining operations at the Twin Peaks after the find of multiple EDENIUM crystals at the snow line of that barren region, deep in the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
Shortly after the terra drills were set up, the rivaling corporations started to sabotage each other's mining operations, which soon turned into an open battle.
REAKKTOR also believe that shooters are meant to be played with mouse and keyboard. That's why TOXIKK is exclusively designed for PC. At this point, we do not intend to port the game to any other platform.
REAKKTOR may be a self-financed indie studio, but every team member brings at least a decade of experience in professional game development to the table and is dedicated to delivering a high quality experience.
TOXIKK features nine different weapons that can be carried around simultaneously. You start with your melee weapon (IMPACTOR) and your basic pistol (RAVEN) with unlimited ammo. All other weapons and ammo are to be picked up in the map. The following is a description of all weapons available in the game.
The IMPACTOR was originally used as a demolition tool to tear down constructions without having to rely on heavy wrecking gear, but its effectiveness also made it a powerful melee weapon. The shock hammer is the Impactor's primary fire, while its secondary fire ignites an EDEN-powered welding beam that can be used for close-range attacks but also to repair damaged vehicles. The Impactor is part of your basic gear and available from the moment you spawn.
The RAVEN pistol is your bread-and-butter defense weapon on the battlefield. Like the Impactor, there's no need to pick it up in the map, as you already have it equipped at spawn. Due to its infinite ammunition, the primary fire mode allows endless single-shots, while the secondary fire mode sends a burst of three bullets. Secondary fire overheats the weapon, requiring a short cool-down before your next shot.
The BULLCRAFT is a double-barreled shotgun for close to mid-range combat situations. It fires one shell (6 pellets) in primary fire mode and 12 pellets (two shells) using its secondary fire. The single action shot requires a pump move to eject the empty shell from the chamber and to load the next one. The secondary fire mode requires two pump moves to empty and reload both chambers. The Bullcraft comes with 12 shells.
The VIOLATOR is a reliable assault machine gun. It is the preferred all-round weapon for mid to long-range combat situations. The Violator's primary fire mode features a high fire-rate and good accuracy, while the secondary fire mode unleashes the destructive potential of the attached close to mid-range pump-action grenade launcher. The weapon has a capacity of 60 rounds. Picked up on the battlefield it comes with 30 rounds.
The FALCON is a powerful and reliable sniper-rifle. With its retractable scope and a x32 zoom, it is perfect for long-range combat situations. Its slow fire-rate is compensated by the high penetration power of its projectiles and its precision. A single head-shot strikes through the armor of an opponent, causing instant death. The Falcon has a capacity of 36 rounds. It comes with 9 rounds, when picked up on the battlefield .
The STINGRAY fires concentrated plasma projectiles at a high fire rate. Due to its powerful, yet comparatively slow projectiles, the weapon is best used in close to mid-range combat. However, thanks to its secondary fire mode, a focused instant-hit plasma beam, it is also suitable for long-range combat situations. A head-shot with a focused plasma beam causes instant death. The Stingray comes with 40 EDEN energy units.
The DRAGONEER is the perfect weapon to fight off multiple opponents nearby. Its primary fire mode sprays a ray of burning napalm, while the secondary fire mode charges a slow traveling, but ultimately lethal fireball. The released fireball can travel a distance of more than 50 meters, losing effectiveness over time, until it is fully dissolved. The Dragoneer comes with 30 units of Napalm.
The CERBERUS is a shoulder-fired rocket launcher with a silo magazine for up to 20 Hades missiles. Using its primary fire mode, the Cerberus fires powerful, yet unguided rockets. The secondary fire mode offers an auto-tracking system that can acquire every moving or heat-emitting object within seconds, turning the Cerberus' rockets into guided missiles. Picked up on the battlefield, the Cerberus comes with 12 missiles loaded.
The HELLRAISER is the most powerful mobile weapon. It is based on experimental EDEN energy nucleus splitting (EENS), a technology with an enormous destructive potential. Its primary fire mode launches an unguided EENS projectile that starts its chain reaction upon impact. The secondary fire mode launches an encapsulated, manually guided EENS projectile. One shot with the Hellraiser takes up 80 units of EDEN energy.
Why Toxikk will be great
As a huge fan of Unreal Tournament and what i consider the birthplace of your 'Call of Duty - Deathmatch' and 'Capture the Flag' game modes in all other FPS games. UT same as Toxikk was designed as an arena FPS, with head-to-head multiplayer deathmatches being the primary focus of the game.
The game's single-player campaign is essentially a series of arena matches played with bots. For team matches, bots are again used to fill the roles of the player's teammates. Even on dedicated multiplayer servers, bots are sometimes used to pad out teams that are short on players.

"If you believe in the Arena-FPS genre as much as we do, then we need your help: Leaving the traditional publisher/developer model behind, also means that we do not have the marketing budget it takes to spread the word on our own, as all our money (and passion) goes into building the game. So, please help us get the word out. Tell your friends about it and like us on FACEBOOK and other social networks. Also, hop over to the FORUM and tell us what you would like to see in TOXIKK.
