I'm sorry Cumberbitches. But it's official, Benedict Cumberbatch is well and truly off the market.

Less than a year after their first public appearance together, the Oscar-nominated actor married his beloved Sophie Hunter, a theatre director, in a private ceremony held at St. Peter and St. Paul's Church in the town of Mottistone on the Isle of Wight in England.

The pair were reportedly surrounded by around 100 of their closest friends and families, including Cumberbatchs long time co-actor and friend, Martin Freeman.

The couple opted for a low key, private wedding. In the vein of their traditional engagement announcement, via a paid-for announcement in The Times newspaper's classified section.

Speaking about his other half whilst promoting the imitation game, Benedict described her as 'just really cool'.

"She's just really cool. She's proud of my work, she's proud of me, and she loves me. That's the bottom line, isn't it? That's one of the reasons it's a good fit. It could be a really difficult thing, but she's just so in command of it."

Unfortunately for the pair, they will have to postpone they honeymoon as Benedict has the small matter of attending the Oscars Feb. 22. The talented actor is nominated for his first Best Actor nomination for his role as mathematician Alan Turing in [The Imitation Game](movie:267965). Regardless of the award, Cumberbatch's smooth vocal pipes are also needed as he will be presenting during the show.

Finally, from all of us here at MoviePilot, we wish Mr and Mrs Cumberbatch a long and happy marriage!

How will this affect the Cumberbitches?
