Well, unless youve been living underneath a rock for the past week, you've probably heard the news the Spider-Man is (finally) going to be in the MCU! This is great news, but sadly, It also comes with some bad news (well, it may be good news for you). They're rebooting the franchise again (Sadly, Andrew and Emma are out). With a reboot means new actors, so I decided to put together a little fancast of which actors should play the characters. Enjoy! (Also, I decided to base my fancast around a high school Peter instead of an adult one, because that seems to be the direction Marvel is taking with him.) *Note: Alot of people I would of liked to use are already in the MCU or have already been cast in the MCU.
Peter Parker/Spider-Man - Logan Lerman
Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider as a teenager, granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle Ben, which he could have prevented, Peter learned that "with great power, comes great responsibility". Swearing to always protect the innocent from harm, Peter Parker became the Amazing Spider-Man!
My personal choice for Peter Parker/Spider-Man is Logan Lerman. He has come a long way since the Percy Jackson Movie(s) and has proved that he has some serious acting skills, starring with actors such as Brad Pitt, Emma Watson, Russell Crowe, and others. Along with the acting chops, he also has the looks to play a high school-aged Peter.
Runner-Ups: Dylan O'brein, *for an adult Peter, id like to see Jake Gyllenhaal
Uncle Ben - Tom Hanks
Peter Parker's Uncle and father figure whose death was the main inspiration for Peter becoming Spider-Man. Ben Parker taught Peter that "With Great Power comes Great Responsibility!"
Tom Hanks has given us some truly amazing performances. He is one of Hollywood’s greatest actors. Uncle Ben is meant to be an inspiration to Peter, and Hanks is one of the most inspiring people in Hollywood, so why can't he play him? Plus, I could totally see Tom Hanks playing Uncle Ben.
Runner-Ups: Craig T. Nelson, William H. Macy
Aunt May - Julianne Moore
Aunt May is the mother figure and aunt-by-marriage to Peter Parker. She's one of the most important people in Pete's life and we've already seen that he will do everything for her.
Excellent in Hunger Games, i think she'll make an excellent Aunt May.
Richard Parker - Michael Shanks
Richard Parker is the father of Peter Parker (Spider-Man), the husband of Mary Parker, and the younger brother of Ben Parker. Richard worked for the CIA/SHIELD.
He looks almost identicle to comic book Richard Parker. *I couldn't figure out who I wanted to play Mary Parker. If you have any suggestions, please leave them in the comments.
Gwen Stacy - Annasophie Robb
Gwen Stacy is the first true love of Peter Parker. She is also the daughter of Captain George Stacy. She's best known for her tragic death, being thrown off from the Brooklyn Bridge by the Green Goblin.
For me, Emma will always be Gwen, but I believe annasophie can make a decent, if not good, Gwen Stacy.
Captain George Stacy - Scott Bakula
Captain George Stacy is the father of Peter Parker's love interest Gwen Stacy. He was a retired Captain from the New York Police Department. He was killed at the hands of Doctor Octopus.
Again, I based this choice mainly on looks.
Mary Jane Watson - Jane Levy
Mary Jane is depicted as an extremely beautiful, green-eyed redhead, and has been the primary romantic interest of Peter Parker for the last twenty years, although initially competing with others for his affection, most prominently with Gwen Stacy and the Black Cat.
Now, my first choice for MJ is Emma Stone, but I feel that she would be too old for high school aged MJ and it would also sorta be, how can I put this, unfair to cast her. Thats the best way I can put it, but hopefully you guys get what I'm saying. So I cast Jane Levy, or as I like to call her, Emma Stone's younger clone.
Runner-Ups: Shailene Woodley
Liz Allan - Emily Kinney
Elizabeth "Liz" Allan was a classmate of Peter Parker. She dated and later married Harry Osborn, Peter's best friend. She has a son named Normie Osborn.
She was great in Walking Dead, and Im sure she'll be great in this.
Eugene "Flash" Thompson/Agent Venom - Liam Hemsworth
Flash attended the same high school and university as Peter Parker, who would later be known as Spider-Man. He frequently bullied Peter, but was actually Spider-Man's greatest fan. Flash would later befriend Peter, and became a decorated war hero. He is currently Agent Venom, the host of the Venom symbiote.
Liam is a wonderful actor. I saw wonderful qualities that make him perfect for Agent Venom. He has the look, the voice and the demeanor of Flash Thompson. Plus, his brother is Thor (Chris Hemsworth), so it'll be a wonderful opportunity to have him join his brother in the MCU.
Runner-Ups: Sam Calaflin
Harry Osborn/Green Goblin (?) - Steven McQueen
The son of the famous Norman Osborn, he often finds himself living in his fathers shadow. He has had a run in with drugs before and he was/is the Green Goblin
Stephen McQueen has proven himself a solid actor with the vampire diaries.
Norman Osborn/Green Goblin - Jon Hamm
Known for many years as the Green Goblin and Spider-Man's arch-enemy, Osborn fooled the world into thinking he's a hero under the guise of the Iron Patriot and outed many heroes as cowards. His downfall was caused by his own insanity when he led a Siege on Asgard.
Hamm is great in Madmen, and I just invision him as Norman. I also tried to pick people that could pass for father and son for the Osborns.
J. Jonah Jameson - J. K. Simmons
J. Jonah Jameson is the employer of Peter B. Parker and remains an aggravate of Spider-Man. He is the chief editor and publisher of the Daily Bugle, a New York newspaper.
I mean, come on. Who else can play him?
Runner-Ups: Nobody. Well... MAYBE Hugh Laurie...
Joseph "Robbie" Robinson - Denzel washington
Robbie spent his childhood in Harlem. He was an assiduous worker in order to succeed his studies and to impose himself in a world where it is difficult to be a black guy from Harlem. His passion for journalism began in high school. He worked in every subject even if it hurt his friends. It happened one day when Joseph Robertson wrote an article on his friend Lonnie Thompson Lincoln ( Tombstone). Indeed Tombstone was a torturer with his classmates. Their friendship was over and Lonnie threatened Robbie. Joseph Robertson decided to not publish his article. Another time, Robbie saw Tombstone kill someone. Robbie was eventually succesfull in getting a good job and went away from his past and most luckily, from Tombstone.
Denzel Washington is an excellent actor, and I think hes got what it takes to pull off Robbie.
Betty Brant - Zooey Deschanel
Betty Brant started as a personal secretary at the Daily Bugle and later became a top reporter. Betty is also one of the many love interests of Peter Parker.
I think she would be perfect as Betty.
Eddie Brock/Venom - Jensen Ackles
Eddie Brock bonded to the alien Symbiote after it was discarded by Spider-Man, becoming the first Venom. Brock was later Anti-Venom, but the symbiote was lost during Spider-Island. He has recently been forcibly bonded to the Toxin symbiote by the Crime Master.
He's great in Supernatural, and whenever I look at him, something, to me, just screams Eddie Brock.
John Jameson - Ryan Kwaten
Famous astronaut and son of J. Jonah Jameson. he ends up marrying She-Huk, which greatly distresses his father.
He has got the looks to play the famous astronaut
Felecia Hardy/Black Cat - Renee Olstead
Former cat burglar Felicia Hardy became a crime fighter when she became romantically involved with Spider-Man. Felicia has the ability to instill "bad luck" around others - this comes in handy when fighting crime!
She would make an excellent Felecia/Black Cat imo.
Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard - Aaron Eckhart
During an experiment Dr. Curtis Connors accidentally turned into a ferocious reptilian monster who seeks to turn humans into lizards like himself. The Lizard is one of Spider-Man’s oldest and deadliest foes while ironically, his alter ego is a close friend and former teacher of Spidey’s alter ego Peter Parker.
I believe that he has the skill to play the contrast between Dr. Connors and the Lizard well.
Dr. Miles Warren/Jackal - Elias Koteas
Miles Warren was a professor at Empire State University. He later developed a fondness for Gwen Stacy, who was a student of his. After she was killed by the Green Goblin, Miles blamed Spider-Man instead. Soon after Gwen Stacy's death Miles became the Jackal (and did a bunch of clone stuff, but we dont talk about that).
My first choice was Andy Serkis, but he's already cast in the MCU (most likely as Klaw) sooooo....I believe Elias Koteas can pull off the "College professor goes crazy after the student he had a crush on dies so he made a bunch of clones and crap happened" dynamic very well. Hes a very underrated actor imo.
Cletus Kasady/Carnage - Jim Carrey
Cletus Kassady is a deranged and highly dangerous serial killer and long-time host to the Carnage symbiote. He is captured and sent to Ryker's Island prison where he shares a cell with Eddie Brock, who had lost his alien symbiote. Brock's symbiote soon returns and bonds with him again, and unwittingly leaves behind the symbiote's offspring behind. This Venom offspring, later named Carnage, gets into a cut on Kasady, thus bonding with his blood and transforming him into Carnage (also causing his symbiote to turn red). He escapes prison, and begins a series of murders, and at the scene of each crime, writes "Carnage Rules" on the walls with his own blood.
For some reason, I think Jim Carrey is just perfect for the role.
Runner-Ups: Elijah Wood
Dr. Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus - Christopher Waltz
A former nuclear physicist and atomic researcher, Dr. Otto Octavius' life changed forever when one of his experiments went horribly wrong. From that day forward, he has set out to prove his superior intellect in a number of ways, but these plans are usually thwarted by Spider-Man.
Why? Because Christopher. freaking. Waltz.
Dr. Adrian Toomes/The Vulture - Stanley Tucci
Swindled by his business partner out of his equal share of the profits from their company, Adrian Toomes set out for revenge by using a flying harness of his own design. He has however, met defeat several times at the hands of his arch-nemesis, The Amazing Spider-Man.
He's a great actor plus he looks like Adrian Toomes.
Roderick Kingsley/Hobgoblin - Leonardo Dicaprio
Roderick Kingsley became a worthy heir of the Goblin legacy, creating his own identity of the Hobgoblin rather than being just another Green Goblin clone.
I think Leonardo Dicaprio has got what it takes to plaay the rich, snobby Roderik Kingsley, while also playing the slightly deranged Hobgoblin.
Sergei Kravenoff/Kraven the Hunter - Manu Bennett
A famous big game hunter who became a mercenary and later developed an intense obsession with restoring honor to his name. Kraven has been known as a major threat for Spider-Man and leaving a legacy during his demise.
He has done a great job as deathstroke on Arrow, and I think he can pull off Kraven the Hunter just fine.
Quentin Beck/Mysterio - Andrew Scott
Mysterio was a formidable foe to the amazing Spider-Man. So much so that his arts of illusion were carried on by others after the original Mysterio's death. The original Mysterio, Quentin Beck, has recently returned. The events behind his resurrection are currently shrouded in mystery.
David Tenant was my first pick, but hes the purple man now, so I picked Andrew Scott. He plays a very Mysterious (ha, get it?) charater on Sherlock so this role suits him nicely.
Aleksei Sytsevich/The Rhino - Nathan Jones
Brawn over brains. The Rhino is an adversary of the amazing Spider-Man and incredible Hulk. His suit grants him immense endurance and strength. He recently returned to a life of crime following an all too brief retirement.
You dont really need a superb actor for rhino, seeing as hes more of the silent and likes to destroy things type. But what you do need is someone extremely muscular, and I think Nathan Jones is that guy. CGI will do the rest.
William Baker (AKA Flint Marko)/Sandman - William Mcintyre
Former enemy of Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four, Sandman reformed after realising he was unhappy with his life. He joined the Avengers and later Silver Sable's Wild Pack. Sandman eventually returned to crime, after being brainwashed by the Wizard, but sometimes still displays desire to better himself.
He was good on Spartacus, and I can see him playing flint.
Mac Gargan/Scorpion/Venom - Michael C. Hall
MacDonald Gargan was a failing private investigator that was turned into the Scorpion with financial help from J.Jonah Jameson. He became the host of the Venom symbiote and was part of Norman Osborn's Dark Avengers. After it was taken by the US Government and he became The Scorpion once again.
Played a murdering psyco on dexter, basically the same thing.
Herman Schultz/Shocker - George Eads
Shocker is a villain who has a pair of gauntlets that, when activated by a thumb trigger, can project a concentrated blast of air that is vibrated at an intense frequency.
I always imagined Shocker looking like George Eads without mask. That’s why I gave role to him. Who knows, his preformance may shock us (hehe).
Maxwell Dillon/Electro - Aaron Paul
One of Spider-Man's most dangerous enemies, the electric human dynamo known as Electro has constantly been a major threat for the Amazing Spider-Man.
Aaron has really proven himself a good actor on Breaking Bad, and I think he can play electro.
Dmitri Smerdyakov/Chameleon - Jeffrey Donovan
The Chameleon is a spy and master of disguise. Throughout his history, he has used a variety of traditional, high-tech and biologically enhanced ways to change his appearance, believably imitating almost anyone. He is Kraven the Hunter's half-brother.
Jeffrey Donovan's face is ideal for Chameleon like Hugo Weaving’s for Red Skull, so I don’t think that someone else can paly Chameleon better than Jeffrey Donovan.
So? How did I do in my fancasting? Leave your feedback in the comments below. Until next time.
So, what do you think?
*Note: If I left out anyone, Its either because I forgot, or I didnt feel like it.
