What another great episode we've had with 'The Blind Fortune Teller' - We were shown perhaps the origin story we had all been waiting for.
The one, The only....
The Joker! ... Or, so we think?
I was so excited for the way they took this character. The build up through the episode with Jerome (Cameron Monaghan) left me wondering if DC had just been teasing us, he seemed like a mild mannered boy unable to be the satirical Joker.
Even right up until Gordon had the chance to interrogate Jerome, I just couldn't see what was going to happen, then he switched...
You could see the Joker inside of him, the tonal switch, the playful but sadistic demeanor, a joy to watch.
I am hoping we see Monaghan become the Clown Prince of [Gotham](series:1127075), however Heller released a statement to E! online neither confirming nor denying that Monaghan is in fact the Joker
I can tell you this is a long game plan and a long story that we are telling here. What I can promise you is this is not a bait-and-switch. This is not someone who is just a character who is going to disappear. This is not a red herring. It’s the beginning of the story of how the Joker came to be, how the Joker was created, where he came from, who he is. Now, that doesn’t necessarily mean that Cameron Monaghan is the Joker. He might be. But like I say, this is a story that begins about seven or eight years before the actual Joker arrives on the scene in his fully-fledged persona. As we’re telling with all of these characters, the origin story of that villain begins [with 'The Blind Fortune Teller'].
So either they are trying to throw everyone off course and the Joker has been hiding in plain sight through the latest episode, or we have got our Joker and they just want to keep everyone guessing. We will have to see what Jerome's link to the - Red Hood Gang - in next weeks show
Some food for thought..
"You see, madness is like gravity. All it takes is a little push." - The Joker, The Dark Knight
"Why did you kill your mother Jerome?"
"Oh you know how mothers are, she just kept pushing." - Jerome
The Flying Graysons
We got to meet parents of the future Robin & Nightwing with the star crossed love interest of John & Mary.
An interesting story arc to bring the two together and a chance to show the infamous Haly's Circus.
Bruce steps it up.
Bruce is taking no prisoners and causing a stir in Wayne Enterprises. He is determined to clean his parents company of any illegal and villainous activities.
This bold move my Bruce is going to cause some trouble in Gotham, stirring up the criminal underworld and right around the time the Joker gets thrown into the mix, could this be Gotham's tipping point into criminal insanity?
Upsetting a few board members with his talks on the companies activities, especially ones in bio-medical testing - which brings us onto our next point
A bit of foresight from young Master Bruce? It may of just been the drawings of a young boy, but if we know anything about DC, it's that they love to hint and drop Easter eggs into their shows - Is that a little Batman standing just off to the left of the lower jaw ?
What is Fish up too?
Fish has already built up a cult following in this prison/organ factory and is on her way to meet the man who the runs the whole show, could we see something linked to the Red Hood Gang here? or maybe she has just got herself into hot water...
We have seen a variety of characters from the Batman universe, I am hoping that Season 1 will go out with a bang and bring in a couple more strong characters. Season 2 should be about developing this characters and giving them some real story arcs to get the pace moving.
Next time we will be looking through all of the villains that have been brought to our screen in season 1 of Gotham and also some characters we are waiting to see!
In the meantime...
