Renown for his part in the vampire TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Nicholas Brendon was an integral part of the series in his role of Alexander Lavelle Harris, better known as "Xander." Take a look at some of his top moments from the show:
Not a stranger to getting himself into trouble on screen, it seems that the real-life Xander also faces quite a number of obstacles. The other day, Brendon caused quite a disturbance by getting himself arrested for felony grand theft at a Hilton hotel.
And just like his on-screen character, he did not possess the supernatural ability to get himself out of this tight spot.
So, what happened?
Brendon was in Ft. Lauderdale attending the Shock Pop Comiccon and seems to have gotten a bit too overexcited. After getting blind drunk, he then went back to his hotel room to trash it. Unable to deal with the mess he had created and clearly dreading having to wake up to the disaster zone in the morning, he ended up asleep in a hotel employee's office.
A police report claimed that the actor has done over $450 worth of damage to his room and raked up a $380 food and drink bill over one night. And naturally, refusing to pay for his illegal, and very bizarre actions, he was arrested.
Thankfully, the convention agreed to pay for the room, which clearly Brendon didn't care much about at the time, tweeting:
"Hey Twatters! I'm stuck in Ft Lauderdale w/no per diem. No hotel. No ride to the airport. Thanks @Shockpopcc."
That's not really the reaction we were expecting, considering Shock Pop just had to part with almost $1000 for his inconsiderate behavior!
This is not the first time that Brendon collided head-first with the law
Last October, he was arrested at an Idaho comic convention for getting into a scuffle with hotel staff in the lobby. He also appeared to be drunk at the time.
Two days later, he apologized and said he was checking himself into rehab for drug and alcohol related issues. He released a personal statement:
"I apologize. Those two small words don’t begin to express my regrets, but they do mark the beginning of my recovery."
"Battling a disease..."
The most recent arrest also confirms that following his stint in rehab, Brendon has continued to deal with his personal demons.
Since the most recent arrest, his representatives have made a statement confirming this. It reads:
"Nicholas is, unfortunately, battling a disease that many of us don't understand. We are working with him to improve upon the situation at hand and look toward the future. He's sorry for his actions and takes what happened last night very seriously. We will take great care to ensure his safety in the future."
In a separate statement, the rep added:
"We are aware that Nicholas' actions are of a much deeper origin—and we are working toward creating a healthy environment for him to thrive in. The past several months have been trying, and Nicholas' disease is damaging and consistently misunderstood. We are doing everything in our power at Camp Nick to assure his recovery."
We wish Brendon a healthy recovery and hope to never see him in a mess like this ever again!
