In the run up to the release of the fifth season of the epic Game of Thrones, a storyboard feature has been published which is not only awesome, but it has also got me unbelievably excited for the April 12 release date.

In preparation, watch the trailer once again:

Will Simpson, one of the visionary artists behind the show, has been part of [Game of Thrones](movie:817617) since the very beginning and his beautiful work has greatly influenced the visual representation of some our favorite scenes and characters.

Speaking of his role in the production process, Simpson says:

"When I do storyboards, I try and get the energy into the images [...] It’s important that when a director shows it to a camera man or a d.p. [director of photography] they get a sense of the nuance, the feel of the shot."

His contribution is clearly an integral part of the show so I was so happy to discover that a video and a few sample storyboards have been released from Season 4.

Feast your eagle-eyes on him at work in the short clip below:

The attention to detail is just incredible, especially when he draws on every delicate strand of hair at the end! Being able to create those sketches with pen and ink is really amazing to watch.

For a more in-depth look, take a peek at the three storyboards from episodes 6, 9 and 10 from Season 4 below:

Episode 6: Daenerys's dragons encounter some goats

Episode 9: Ghost joins the fight during the Battle of Castle Black

Sadly, in the final version of the episode, we never got to see the full Ghost scene. I really do hope we see more of the wolf in the next season!

Episode 10: The White Walkers attack!

This is just got me so excited for the next season!
