There has been many discussions, and rightfully so, about the lack of Black Superheroes in movies. Over the years, this has been rectified starting with Spawn (1997), Steel (1997) and the Blade trilogy (starting in 1998). I am not including the Blankman and Meteor Man, which came out before these movies and were superhero parodies, in this discussion. From there on, Black marquee superheroes (Catwoman, Hancock & the upcoming Black Panther) and supporting superheroes (Frozone, John Wraith, Storm, Darwin, Nick Fury, War Machine/Iron Patriot, Falcon, Bishop, and the upcoming Human Torch & Cyborg) have made it to the big screen.

Asian superheroes have also made it to the big screen usually in villain form (Lady Deathstrike, Agent Zero and Silver Samurai) or total fake-out (Mandarin). A few heroes have emerged such as Jubilee (brief appearance), Kato, Yukio and Blink. More needs to be done.

But, when it comes to Latino Superheroes/Supervillains, only TWO (2) have made it to the big screen. Bane had the luchadore look from the comics in Batman & Robin (1997), but was re-imagined for The Dark Knight Rises (2012). Both actors were not Latino though. Jeep Swenson was a Texan and Tom Hardy is Australian respectively. I was so happy that Roberto De Costa AKA Sunspot in X-Men: Days Of Future Past (2014) was played by Adan Canto, an actual Mexican actor born in the same state, Coahuila, as my grandfather!

What Latino Superheroes can be introduced in the movies within the next decade? Here are my suggestions:

Heroes For Hire
Heroes For Hire

Tarantula (Maria Vasquez)

I would love to see a Heroes For Hire movie with Black Cat, Misty Knight, Colleen Wing, Tarantula, Iron Fist and Luke Cage. I would not mind if they swap out Iron Fist for Shang-Chi to be more ethnically diverse (sorry Iron Fist fans) since Shang-Chi was in the third incarnation of the team. Luke Cage is getting his own Netflix series at this time. I hope that this can evolve into a Heroes For Hire movie in the future.

Suggested Actress for Tarantula: Genesis Rodriguez

Blue Beetle

Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes)

I would not mind if the DC movie universe went with Jaime Reyes instead of Ted Kord as the Blue Beetle. Just like I hope they go with John Stewart as the Green Lantern. These two would bring some needed diversity to the upcoming Justice League movies.

Suggested Actor for Blue Beetle: Omar Avila

Echo/Ronin

Echo/Ronin (Maya Lopez)

At some point, the Avengers movies are going to get too crowded. They will have to start making movies with subsets of the Avengers. My suggestion is to make separate movies with an Earth-based covert Avengers (several Marvel comic titles were built around this concept). If this is done, then introducing Maya Lopez AKA Echo AKA Ronin would be a great idea. Characters that also can be in this subset are some combination of: Captain America, The Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Mockingbird, Agent 13 (Sharon Carter), Falcon, Moon Knight, and Ant-Man. The movies can have cameos by Maria Hill, Nick Fury, Phil Coulson, Iron Patriot and The Vision.

Suggested Actress for Echo/Ronin: Daniella Alonso

Araña
Araña

Araña (Anya Corazon)

When Sony announced that they were making a female spider-person movie, I immediately hoped that they would include Araña as one of the characters. I also hope that they can make a deal to have Araña appear in the Captain Marvel movie. The two have partnered up in the comics. I also hope that they keep the same look as shown in the image above!

Suggested Actress for Araña: Lourdes Leon

Aztek

Aztek

Can the Justice League include another Latino superhero? Might I suggest Aztek (created by Grant Morrison and Mark Millar) as a helping hand in a Justice League movie or a team-up in a future Man Of Steel movie.

Suggested Actor for Aztek: Eduardo Verásategui

The Darkness w/ Witchblade
The Darkness w/ Witchblade

The Darkness (Jackie Estacado)

The TV series 'Witchblade' based on the Top Cow comic series prematurely went off the air due to actress Yancy Butler's rehab. It never got the chance to introduce the Jackie Estacado AKA The Darkness character. I hope that this can be rectified in a movie or another TV series. The only reservation I have is that the character looks similar to the movie version of The Winter Soldier.

Suggested Actor for The Darkness: Cauã Reymond

Vengeance
Vengeance

Vengeance (Michael Badilino)

When Marvel announced a 'Midnight Sons' movie, I immediately thought that they could replace Ghost Rider with Vengeance. He could provide conflict within the team since the character takes an extreme corporal approach to vanquishing sinners.

Suggested Actor for Vengeance: Amaury Nolasco
