Jeremy Renner first made his appearance as Hawkeye in Thor (2011), when called upon by Agent Coulson as Thor broke into the SHIELD base surrounding Thor's hammer. He made his second and most recent appearance in the first ensemble movie '[The Avengers](movie:9040)' (2012).

Everyone including Jeremy Renner himself knows that Hawkeye was under-utilised in the 'The Avengers' (2012), as half of the film he was under the control of Loki's sceptre and was against Earth's Mightiest Heroes. In an interview, Jeremy brings this matter up;

“At the end of the day, 90% of the movie, I’m not the character I signed on to play. I’m literally in there for two minutes, and then all of a sudden… All I could really work on was the physical part of it all, because that didn’t change.

But since this interview, it has been announced that Hawkeye will have a much bigger role in the Avengers and finally Jeremy Renner will be able to give us the Hawkeye we all know and love, JUSTICE!

"Part of the fun of Age of Ultron was saying, you’ve seen another Iron Man adventure before, you see another Thor adventure and another Cap adventure, but we haven’t seen the Green Goliath again. So that was important in the characters you haven’t seen – Hulk being one of them and Hawkeye being one of them – Ultron will make up for it. They have very big parts in Age of Ultron."

So will Hawkeye get his own One-Shot?

Well a little while on Jeremy Renner's Instagram, he posted a picture of him in his new costume for Age of Ultron standing alone with the Avengers symbol in the background and the description reads 'New promo poster released. May be the last one I figure for this tiny little film.. Wink '.

All One-Shots are about 10-15minutes long and usually come with a DVD release of a Marvel film. In the description of the photo he states 'in this tiny little film' now he can't be talking about '[The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](movie:293035)' (2015) because in no way shape or form is that going to be a tiny little film, it's going to be one of the biggest films of 2015 alongside 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens', 'Jurassic World' and 'Fast and Furious 7'. So what could he be talking about? Could this be putting forward the idea that he is going to be a part of the One-shot for the DVD release of Avengers Age of Ultron or something else?

It could be argued that he is just going back to do re-shoots for the new Avengers film, as it was announced that Joss Whedon wanted Renner and several other Avengers cast members like Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo and Scarlett Johansson. But remember that Whedon might not need all of these actors, he just needs them available for the two week time period of re shooting incase he needs them to be on hand.

But if this is just promoting the Avengers, why would it be the last one?

For the last Avengers instalment in 2012, there was dozen upon dozen of different promotion banners, posters, billboards promoting the Avengers. So with still two months until the films release it's hard to believe that is the last one of him for Avengers: Age Of Ultron when they have so many more weeks of crucial marketing supposedly to go.

Mr Barton.
Mr Barton.

There have been plenty of different One-shots over the years that have included main characters from films on their own adventures, so it's not unlikely for Hawkeye to have his own one shot. It would be the first of it's kind (Superhero one shot) and lets face it, after Guardians of the Galaxy(2014) Marvel don't have to worry about taking chances.

Previous Marvel One-Shots with characters from MCU films.

Could it be an end credits scene?

This is highly unlikely, never before have [Marvel](channel:932254) promoted the end credits scene neither have they ever spoiled an end credits scene before. The end credits scene are one of the many great things about a Marvel movie and probably one the most anticipated things about each film as it's usually an insight onto the next film, you never know what to expect from them. I can't wait to see the end credits now that Black Panther and Spiderman are now in MCU, I am really curious to know what it's going to be. So no, I really doubt that Jeremy Renner is promoting his own end credits scene.

Could Hawkeye appear in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D?

Now this is a tough one, it's not like stars from the MCU films haven't appeared in the tv show [Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.](series:722469) (2013) before. Samuel L. Jackson has made an appearance in a couple episodes and obviously the main star of the show is Agent Coulson, who appeared in almost all of the MCU films leading up to The Avengers in 2012. But the only thing that put's me off the idea of this happening, is that in the instagram post he does clearly say 'tiny little film' and I feel he wouldn't say this if he was going to take a part in the TV show. Don't get me wrong it would be awesome for Hawkeye to make an appearance but the way he has worded the post it just makes me feel doubtful towards him making a cameo or having a role on the show.

One-Shot featuring Hawkeye's place in the SHIELD/HYDRA EVENT?

For me the biggest disappointments for Captain America: The Winter Soldier was that Hawkeye didn't make an appearance, he is a key player in an all of SHIELD so it really surprised me and probably others that he didn't make an appearance. But it was later found out that he was due to make a cameo in the film but due to scheduling he couldn't make an appearance and the fact that the Joe and Anthony Russo were building on so many other characters like Falcon, [Black Widow](movie:1070824) and Fury in this film that it would result in Hawkeye having a very small role. The original scene that he was planned to cameo in was as follows. Joe Russo says;

But there was a great sequence where Hawkeye was chasing Cap through Washington D.C. there was an awesome sequence where they confronted each other in a ravine on the outskirts of D.C. and Hawkeye was shooting a series of arrows closing in on Cap, Cap closing in on him. And then Cap took him down and he realized for the first time that Hawkeye was trying to trick S.H.I.E.L.D, where he whispered something into Cap’s ear that Cap had a tracker on his suit and to punch Hawkeye to make it look real, because there was a Quinjet hovering above where they were watching the feedback back at S.H.I.E.L.D.

So could Hawkeye's possible One-Shot feature the Hydra/SHIELD events taking it's toll on Hawkeye, showing how it effects him and showing where he is during the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

All of this leads me to conclusion that there is a very high chance that we will be seeing him in his own One-Shot.

What do you guys think? Do you agree or disagree with me? Leave your thoughts in the comments :)

Hawkeye returns to MCU in Avengers: Age of Ultron along with Captain America, Black Widow, Iron Man, Thor and the Hulk on May 1st 2015 (US).
