A drive-in cinema in Concord, California, has been in trouble with many furious parents and the media, after they showed the raunchy adult romance '50 Shades of Grey' on a screen adjacent to the new children's movie 'Spongebob: Sponge Out of Water'. Deborah Powell took a group of 12 young children to see the new family friendly Spongebob flick, but said she was absolutely horrified to discover that the controversial '50 Shades of Grey' was being shown just in view.
On the screen at the time we arrived, there was a woman being slapped, naked, bound up.... so, we had to have our children close their eyes. I could see that in the car behind us, there was a group of children who had also been instructed to cover their eyes.
After trying and failing to stop her children from seeing the very R-Rated picture on the opposite screen, Powell decided it was best to take her very disappointed family back home. The theatre staff claim that they had received a number of complaints from angry parents, so I'm sure they'll think twice before pulling such a stunt again.
