When I first bore witness to the neon-drenched, digital universe of 1982's sci-fi classic Tron, there was one thing I could not stop thinking about: what a fantastic video game this would make.
While we've certainly had our fair share of Tron-inspired video game adaptations over the years, none have ever quite matched up to the franchise's full potential - but that might be about to change!
Oscar-winning songwriter and composer Giorgio Moroder - famed for his impeccable work on Scarface's iconic soundtrack - recently spoke to Clash Music about his ties to the Disney-owned franchise:
I’m going to meet Skrillex next week when I’m back. I’m doing the music for a game for Disney’s ‘Tron’. We have about five themes, electronic stuff and let’s see if he’s interested in remixing or re-working one of the songs.
Wow! So the legendary Moroder is teaming up with Skrillex to collaborate on some juicy electronic beats for a brand new Tron game!
Of course, the composer could be referring to Disney Infinity 2.0, a sandbox adventure featuring a mish-mash of various Disney franchises, of which Tron is a part of. However, 'five themes' sounds substantial enough to be referring to a brand new, as yet unannounced project!
Details are scarce, but watch this space for further updates.
