The Oscars for me have always been this obscure movie award that has never made that much sense. I've seen a share of movies that should take the oscars but then don't even appear. These types of movies even getting nominated is a rarity in itself, let alone win. One day I really hope this article is proven wrong. So here are the type of movies that I do hope one day get noticed.
I can't even recall the last movie that had a homosexual couple in it. Seeing this is rare in movies in general. Now there were in this generation that's become more supportive of this I'm surprised to see that it's still not been represented in a movie and won some type of reward. What is it that keeps movie directors from avoiding have a homosexual couple or from others noticing that couple and saying it's still great. Perhaps one solution is to pick a genre in which it wouldn't be easy to tell that there would be a couple at all. Like a mystery or a thriller since a thriller usually targets one person.
I might be wrong on this one since there have been a lot of great superhero movies but I don't recall one winning movie of the year or something like that. Most likely they might shuffle them into a smaller category and they might win or at least get nominated. This makes me fearful for someone like myself has trying to push for Syndicate X to be a movie. I'd feel more secure if a superhero movie won movie of the year and if I could recall it.
Let's face it there hasn't been a good horror movie in the last decade. And when it was good it's most likely not made from here and won't get nominated or win. Horror I feel as been shuffled back for a long time. There needs to be something new, creative and somehow become mainstream. Sadly horror has gotten this stigma for cheap jumps scares and cheesy acting. This is another category where I wish I could just make a movie for. The fear of the stigma would be overwhelming. One day maybe someone will come along and break this nearly decade long curse away.
A video game being turned into a movie is not doubt a hard task. These movies usually don't fair well at all. So far the best one I've seen is Silent Hill, however there were no rewards given here. With new movies based on videos games hopefully this era of us saying there all bad will come to an end. Let's hope these movies are done justice and if so get nominated and hopefully win something. As far now my judgement for these movies will remain the Silent Hill did it best and should have gotten some sort of nudge.
Lastly if it doesn't already exist then most underrated movie or lowest budgeted movie or something that can represent smaller movies in general should also have already if it doesn't already exist. In this case I think there should allow for double or even triple the nominations and allow more then one winner. This can allow for those small movies that pushed really hard but had various obstacles to overcome to make these movies happen. This category can clearly expand to most underrated fill in the blank. Like role, director and so on. This should be dictated to the future and new roles that simply blow us away. Another one could be best role and a "Bad" movie. I've seen some actors really try to give it all they've got and these types of movies and sometimes they are not acknowledged because the movie as a whole was bad. I think this stigma might be the worst of all. It's so rare to see those actors bounce back and return for something good.
Overall, I think there is a lot of shallow ends to cover for the oscars. One day I really do all the stigma's will be removed from it. Until then I will always feel like some movies or individuals will continue to get ripped off.
