There's always something so intriguing about the way horror characters look. We all know we're drawn to Pinhead's crazy grey-blue skin and black eyes, Freddy's fashion-forward sweater and knife-hand, and Captain Spaulding's clown costume and makeup. It's what makes them so memorable to us- their image burned into our brains, making us love them. So what about the ones that you can't help but say "d'awwww look how cute!"? Pardon my taste. What I consider adorable is probably not what everyone else considers adorable.
5) The Babadook
I don't know, maybe I'm alone on this one, but going through such a terrifying movie with such a cute little pop-up-book character made it even scarier for me. There was something so adorable about his big eyes and top hat that had me wanting to see him through the whole film! Except I didn't really want to see him...?! No? Okay...we'll pretend I didn't say anything. That's embarrassing.
4) Damien Thorn - The Omen
There's something so creepy about kids in horror movies, especially when they're the antagonist of the film...and even more so when they're the antichrist. But just look at that face, how could you be mad?!
3) Danny Torrance - The Shining
Two kids in a row. Did you know Danny Lloyed, the actor that played Danny Torrance didn't see The Shining until wayyyy after the film was released? He was 16! I can imagine he watched it and said "what did they do with my hair" quite a few times. Little Danny Torrance is one of the creepiest parts of the film...(REDRUM anyone?) but he also has such a sweet disposition!
2) Blade - The Puppet Master Films
This one kind of speaks for itself. He's a creepy little puppet with bullets for eyes, a hook for one hand and a blade for the other, which would typically be terrifying but there's something about that haircut and fedora and trench coat that just makes you want to snuggle up with him. And look at his smile!
1) Sam - Trick 'r Treat
This guy is the cutest little pumpkin head you've ever seen in your life. I think his onesie and button eyes are enough to make that pretty clear, but what's under his burlap sack for a head is almost cuter. I won't spoil it for those of you that haven't seen one of the best horror films of all time. He'll be coming back for a sequel in the near future!
