The Princess Bride might be going into its 28th year (yeah, you read that right) in 2015, but this movie has proved time and time again that it is still just as awesome as the day in first graced our screens in 1987.
I mean, remember Wallace Shawn as Vizzini constantly exclaiming "inconceivable"? ("I do not think that word means what you think it means.")
Remember Inigo Montoya (Mandy Patinkin)'s classic speech? "Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."
Remember Westley (Cary Elwes)'s adorably romantic "as you wish"?
I could go on, but the point is that this movie is one bag full of awesome, and it continues to remain in our collective societal consciousness (decidedly for the better).
So, to give extra cheer to your day, a recent Princess Bride parody music video by Bonecage has been released called "You’re the Man (In Black)," set to the tune of the Karate Kid’s final song “You’re the Best.” Check it out for yourself below:
My favorite line has to be, "And it hurts to think / how she's gonna marry Humperdinck." Fezzik would be proud of that rhyme.
The artist, Bonecage, had this to say about the creation of this masterpiece:
Princess Bride + Karate Kid = nostalgiagasm. This is a a parody of the ending fight song on Karate Kid set to clips from Princess Bride, and it made me feel like a 10-year old as I created it. Memories...
If you're a fan of musical parody (and Breaking Bad) then check out Bonecage's other piece of work so far: "Heisenberg" a Breaking Bad tribute set to Toto's "Africa."
